Edited by: Qutsemnie on 12/04/2005 23:06:57 I been away a bit so im total noob in somethings i shouldnt be.
Ok so i get an offer when i log in.
Armed, Drugged and Dangerous Offer Description The local Navy squadron here on Ohvosamon VII - Spacelane Patrol Logistic Support is preparing for a lengthy foray into the outer regions. I haven't been privy to info on this most secret mission, all I know is that the Quartermaster wants to stock up on drugs for the squadron to take along in case of any major encounters. I need 240 units of Exile, 400 units of Frentix and 480 units of Nerve Sticks. This is a hefty order, but I have full confidence in your ability to fulfill this little shopping list of mine.
This offer expires at 2005.04.19 15:42:31 Offered Items: These items are being offered to you by your agent: 25737825 credits Cost: The agent is requesting the following as payment for the item: 240 units of Exile four hundred units of Frentix 480 units of Nerve Sticks 4800 Loyalty Points
Ok first off. Dude wants to pay me 3 HIGH END CRUISERS WORTH OF ISK for drugs. OK. WTF do i look like the columbian connection? 3 CRUISERS WORTH OF ISK! Lets RP this for a moment... These navy boys arnt f'n around when they want to score....
Ok now that aside say i wanted to hook dude up with my afghan supply chain~ How do i get the drugs to him safely? Im assuming i cant have some hot chick swallow a ballon full of 3 CRUISERS WORTH OF DRUGS~ And god knows the customs peeps seem to enjoy digging through my tighty whiteys... So suit cases seem to be out.
Do I make the ship out of Frenix laced plastics or something? Shove 480 nerve sticks in where the projectile ammo goes?
Thankees for your advice.

Edited by: Steno on 13/04/2005 01:44:22 there is no legitimate way to smuggle right now. The only way to fill these requests currently is one that i'd hazard to guess would be frowned upon by the devs so i wont pass it on. Soon you will have skills that let you have a chance of smuggling things with lower chance of getting caught per skill lvl

The Black Market skill is already available, but you can ONLY get it when you start a character. It's my understanding that it works like this, but feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
There is some % chance that you are scanned at a gate when passing customs officials. There is a base 90% chance of them detecting contraband. Black Market skill reduces this by 10% per level which would give someone with lvl 5 Black Market a 40% chance of being caught IF they are scanned. Pretty good odds for a gambler -

Best thing to do is probably decline the mission. The chances of getting the drugs in Empire is slim without flying all around the galaxy, as there simply aren't enough available in any one place to get them. So it could literally take days to get them all together.
The other option is to fly out to 0.0 to get them from pirate stations, though I don't know if any one station will have all that stuff available, and you may have to go to different factions to get them.
No matter how you do it, you have then to get the drugs to your agent, which will result in severe hits to both your wallet and your standing with whatever empires you fly through. This can be mitigated by using an alt to take the hits for you. There's also a good chance they'll empound the drugs anyway, setting you back at square one.
so until CCP adds some way to prevent customs agents from detecting your cargo, you're basically SOL, unless the agent happens to be in low sec where you can get easy access to 0.0, where you can "safely" move the drugs; you'll then just have to worry about player pirates and alliances.
All in all, the system's pretty FUBAR'd.

Actually, with a good set of instas, you can evade the custom guys fairly easily. They don't have time to scan you before you're gone. If you're interested I have about 350 nerve sticks in Jita if you want them, convo me in game.

actually blackmarket isn't working. its available and trainable but the effects are not implemented.
As for insta jumps. they do work but you get caught comeing out the other side and get fined.

ahhhhhh, the days of playing 'privateer1' and jettisoning my load of contraband while customs was in the process of trying to scan me...you'd think they'd have been quicker or smart enough to scan what i'd JUST jettisoned.
"uhh, sir, there's that guy again for the Xth time and he dumped his entire cargo hold into space..AGAIN..you think he's up to something?" ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

I prefer the method Elite used. It was a % chance if you got caught smuggling and the fines you paid were a small portion of the gain from selling the contraband. Overall, the profit was worth paying the fine. Once you got to know who you could sell it to in safety and avoid the traps laid by bogus federal buyers, you could trade in contraband and make a tidy profit. The drawback was that you had to go into rough areas to get it and normally got jumped by several groups of pirates on the way.

Edited by: Ryzolette on 19/04/2005 00:09:10 This is purely hypothetical, but you have a 10 second can't be targetted period when you exit a warp, jumpgate, station etc. If this applys to NPCs then as long as you have a ship that can go 1.5k/s you should be able to jump before you can be locked so they can't scan you. 15km/10s=1.5k/s though you can probably get by with 12.5/10=1.25km/s but 1.5k/sec provides a little padding.
Oh and check the penaltys for the region you're in, some regions don't confiscate.

Your biggest problem is not smuggling the drugs. It's acquiring the Exile. If you acquire even 10 units of Exile consider yourself to be a master trader. _____________________________________________ I am motivated by various things, mostly ISK. |

Edited by: Sinecera on 06/05/2005 23:31:12 The feasibility of the following proposal has not been tested - apply at your own risk:
After acquiring the merchandise, create a courier mission and package it. Use an alternate character to ferry the product to its' destination. Any scans should only reveal the presence of the package, not its contents.
