So as i travel around, i have noticed ships that not only warp together, but do commands linked to one another. When i say commands i mean like all turn their mining lasers on at the exact same moment say 20 at a time.
After talking around it appears CCP is allowing people to use programs that allow their 1 screen to control multiple accounts instead of them having to do it individually. Now the game allows for fleet warp and such but doesnt allow for these other features. Meaning by that, you have to seek a program outside EVE online to do this.
This is legal? Why? Shouldn't it be in the game if you wanted it there?
Or is it who cares they are paying for more accounts?
Im confused as to why this behavior is obviously promoted, and when i say promoted i mean you are doing nothing, which in my book is the same thing. |

So long as every ship action is the immediate cause of player input, everything is fine. That means that things that multiply clicks/commands across clients are fine, since every command the client gets is "fresh from the user". By contrast, a program that runs a particular command on an interval (like turning guns on, or something) is illegal and considered botting, since those commands are not a result of user input.
Hope that clears this up a bit. It's a common question, and the distinction is fine, but the bottom line is: if you aren't touching your keyboard/mouse, your ship(s) shouldn't be taking any new actions. It's not promoted, it's just legal according to numerous explanations you can find on forums. As long commands are given by human sitting in front of computer you are allowed to use command cloning software such as ISBoxer. Search button is wonderful thing, you should try it sometimes.

I'ts pretty much "immersion breaking" if you see it happen but it's officially allowed, there's no rule against running multiple clients as long as they're not controlled by bots or macros. Amat victoria curam. |

Seems to me the answer is as long as CCP makes money.
If the game doesnt have this feature built in, it seems rather dumb they would allow something that obviously is not for the better of this game.
Also to say the commands of the player are "fresh" when hes never even looked at the screen is comical. |

I don't quite see why you're so ticked off about this. Every time an account does something, there is still a user behind it giving commands. It's not like a bot where you can just go afk. It's just a way of making it a little easier on guys with multiple accounts. What's the big deal? http://eve-sojourn.blogspot.com/ |

Watching 2 players control 20 hulks 10 procurers and a Roraqual is all i ever would need to tell my friends about Eve Online.
The fact is they are controlling ships they never even watch the screen for but this isnt considered botting is a joke.

This shows how little you know about multiboxing
With ISboxer you have 1 main client and x slaves.
This means you fully look and control your main client and the slaves just copy the inputs.
So you ARE LOOKING at the screen.
tl:dr, Stop whining you can't multibox yourself and hate people who can. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Basic rules are something like: * Can't give an unfair advantage over other players. [example: keyboard sending multiple commands to one client] * Can't interact directly with the client-server data stream. * No automation. Must require player interaction.

It is really rather easy to see why. Folks who play this game for long tend to make multiple accounts and ccp makes money on every account that is live. More players in game = more money in the bank. Why would they want to discourage such behavior? |

Also to say the commands of the player are "fresh" when hes never even looked at the screen is comical. CCP is against botting, and that is why reporting a bot is very easy (just right click). There has also been a recent big initiative to get bots out of the game and improve life for everyone by doing so.
If you feel that what you are witnessing is botting or other exploiting the game for an unfair advantage, please report it and someone will address it in an official manner -- which will be way more productive and efficient than bickering about it on the forums.

The problem being there is no mention of this at all in the beginning of the game. No mention of playing multiple accounts simultaneously, and sure as hell no mention of 3rd party programs to do this.
Now if they went through all the work to "omit" these things, then by what means does it serve to not share this bit of information?
It appears CCP is not to proud from an outsiders perspective of this little loop hole. I cant remember in all their advertising or all the webpages of their game mechanics of mutliboxing.
Now i can assume you probably havent played a different onilne game where multiboxing was present, but i have, and i can tell you it had a serious detrimental effect to the game. Of course the game masters didn't care there either as they were making a buck there too.
All i can say is im sad this is the way this game is allowed to play, now i can say assuredly that those 40,000 people they claim to be online is probably alot closer to 10,000. That and i wouldn't have bothered to obtain a subscription, i would rather play a game with a level playing field then who has the most money.

Of course it fine if CCP make money. It's their game, their supercomputers that house it and their choice what they do with all of it.

Yey 2 straight troll threads that really didn't add anything, i have to love this community even when they have nothing to add they keep talking.
To say a player with 1 account is going to have the same experience in Eve Online as a player with 20 accounts linked playing the same ships with the same buttons is a farse. Then to say this doesn't add any competitive advantage is a joke.
I was looking for a game where regardless of how many accounts i owned i wouldn't be forced to play a particular style. You can say this is so, but then again your stupid enough to troll without even making a point.
This might seem fun for the guy with 20 accounts but for the new guy starting, its a big F*** it. Whats the point? Huge disadvantage from the start which, honestly, cant be caught up without money.
Have fun with that game, i know i wont, or my friends, why waste my time? I would have to be pretty dumb to keep throwing money to compete at this sort of stupidity. But then again i should have seen the writing on the wall when you have articles and articles on the joys of botting LOL.
Im glad your all the hard crowd with 20 accounts linked so you can "compete", where i come from we call that a sucker. |

HOW in the world is it you can't do what YOU want cause some other player has 20 accounts.
I know many people who jsut have 1 account (true some of them have 3 trained pilots on them) that have just as much fun as people with multiple accounts.
As having multiple accounts also means you can multiply the cost a month for each account.
But see you later, you won't be missed in EVE now go back to that rollercoaster MMO where everything is told to you what you can and can't do. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station.
