Golden Ratio was used to describe the fine balance between griefers and carebears, or at least, thats what I got told by Eris or possibly someone else, when i asked about it heh. (then they locked it :/)
About your main, settings: select your main, set character as default check thing, if that doesn't work, spam t20 or something.

The golden ratio is actually (1+sqrt{5})/2, which is about 1.62
It is an interesting rectangle, where if you cut a square off it, the resulting rectangle that is left keeps the same ratio, you can then cut a square off, and have the same ratio rectangle. If a curve is drawn through all the cut squares you get a nice natual shell type pattern. The greeks used the golden ratio alot for the gaps between pillars in their arcitecture.

It's a dangerous number and should not be messed with. Bad things happen to people who play with dangerous numbers. Pythagoras was said to have drowned a student in a well for talking about them publicly. Beware the Golden Section

I always thought the golden ratio was the required ratio for some of eve's 'elite pvp corps' to actually engage another group in a fight?
....from my experience that was always 3:1 or for the bold 2:1.
guess not

based on who is using it as a sig, and Tomb's offhand remark, it references the dispersal of urine on the carebears in the game by the griefers and pvpers (pvp is not griefing, gate camping in empire in a blob shooting noobs is griefing)
i.e...they dont care if they are ruining the game for a majority of the players, as long as they get to gank and grief with Tomb's approval.

I've noticed that when I use Firefox it defaults to an alt even if you set the correct character, unless you're lucky to have the main in the correct place. Using a different browser should help.

The golden ratio is the divine number or (or Phi)
= 1.618 (3sf)
Linkage
It basically occurs in nature in the form of seashells and pentagrams, it even occours in humans as the ratio of elbow to shoulder for example.

No - pentagrams. You draw a line to connect each corner of a perfect pentagon and you get a pentagram (five pointed star). Then if you take any one of those lines the ratio of the length of the shorter section to the longer is the same as the ratio of the longer section to the whole length of the line, which is 1.618... So a pentagram contains the golden ratio twice in each line, making it a shape of great significance, which is why Pythagorus adopted it as the symbol for his sect of mystical mathematicians
