Sorry if this has been asked before - but does anyone know if CCP are developing a Mac Client for Eve? I was just thinking that since most other MMORPGs have a mac client, why shouldn't eve? Anyone feel the same? lol

i think eve is coded in DirectX and CCP seem to be having lots of fun just keeping eve running on windows :)... would be cool to have a mac client mind- maybe port it to opengl one day :) but maybe not....

No, they aren't. It's not cost effective for them, either in terms of actually producing it, or the small number of additional accounts it would create.
there's a big thread on here somewhere. I think it's called OS Porting. You can see more there.

Although the game logic is written using "stackless python", an open source language/system, the game graphics are tuned into M$'s Windows DirectX.
I think if the EVE developers had gone for an OpenGL strategy from day 1, then I think that would actually see a native Mac/Linux/BSD client beside the current windows one.
I think we can hold our breath regarding a "native" Mac client.
I have heard of limited success though with Linux and Cedega (old WineX).
As always, YMMV -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

Which is too bad. I wish I could play EVE instead of effin' WOW on my Powerbook at work.
(which is even funnier when I mention I work at an IBM support center)
