Well I have heard everything now. I am NOT a big fan of loot or ore thieves, but there again I wouldn't be happy if I was podded by a pirate. BUT it is a part of EVE. Isn't it? And yet it has been decided by those who want to constantly walk in green meadows and help old people cross the road safely that stealing from mission loot cans will be regarded as an exploit!! WTF? If this isn't total nonsense I don't know what we can look forward to next. Pirates having to ask a players permission to kill him? If, like me, you want to preserve the exciting unpredictability and lurking danger, the skullduggery, the treachery AS WELL as the carebear stuff, and thereby keep the game entertaining, back me up on this. A very good colleague of mine, who is a loot and ore thief, but an 'honourable' one - never takes mission objective stuff, for example - is now leaving the game because some do gooder whinges that he has lost his mission loot. Oh dear. What a pity. What they gonna do when their first BS goes pop? Get someone banned? CCP I love your game but this decision is one of the worst you have made.

Did I miss the email that declared today, paranoia mayhem day? Or?
Your friend was banned? had action taken against him cause he was exploiting? NO you say. Wow what a suprise.
And if you wanna know how the GMs think about stealing mission loot. File a petition and ask them.
Tell your friend he shouldn't believe everything his victims spout in local. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

People who have their ore stolen go 'OMFG EXPLOIT I WILL PETITION YOU FOR GREIFING' but last time I checked it actually isn't an exploit. _________________

He didn't say his friend was banned, he said his friend was leaving because someone else whined.
Which means friend = synonym for "kitty" .
EVE is therefore better without him, and we all move on. "You Griefer!!!" = "You Doodyhead!!!" |

If you can get into someone else's mission complex, destroy the tough rats and steal all the loot, even taking their mission loot that they need to finish the mission, you rule. There is nothing wrong in it and it's not an exploit, but it sure would be fun :).

Stealing somebody's valuable mission loot is slimy. Stealing somebody's non-valuable loot needed for mission completion is extremely bad manners.
However neither AFAIK is an exploit, any more than ore theft is. (At least unless it goes beyond casual theft and into persistent harassment. Then it might be petitionable but still not as an exploit.)
Me, I fly missions in a 0.4 and I've seen (in local) several would-be mission can thieves come to regret it!

I guess this would be some sort of mission bonus. LMAO
Stop griping about server instability and go buy an EVE mug!
Additionally with the purchase of each mug you will receive two(2) invisible Elves.

its pretty lame really sure if its not a high sec system but if its 0.5+ stealing cans shouldnt be an option there is NO risk if the player fires back he gets owned by concord however if ure going after lvl 4 agent runners hope u stay in business :) might **** ppl off enough to stop doing them

First of if your friend is stealing loot/ore in 0.4 or below then fair play to him,if however he is stealing in 0.5 or above he is simply a coward hiding behind broken/crap game mechanics. If he is so concerned about being called a exploiter tell him to go steal in 0.0...oh wait that would mean actually taking a risk and not hiding behind a bunch of uber npc right?
your m8 is worse than any could ever be.

You will have a very hard time explaining what bad manners are to many people on these boards. Most will translate 'bad manners' in 'fun'.
Wellcome to EVE, baby

well as i havnt had any valuble mission loot if someone wants my loot they are welcome too it, if im in .4 they should expect a torp or two flying there way tho.. tis the principle..

Well, I would assume you consider any loot you need to take back to your agent to complete the mission as "valuable" I think it's that bit that most mission-runners really begrudge having stolen, as it renders the mission impossible to complete. I would equate stealing normal rat loot to stealing ore from a miner. Stealing the mission-critical loot is more like stealing the entire asteroid belt.

Edited by: Rick Dentill on 20/04/2005 15:36:59 its news to me. I have never notcied anyone suggest it was an exploit. My corp was seriously hampered by an ore thief who was nominally a member of our corp. It took us ages to patch up relations. I have known a couple of people to be thieved when I was around (not by me!) and they were annoyed yes, but not sreaming exploit. Who are this exploit whinners?
Maybe CCP should make it so that ore thieves can be shot at if they get caught in empire. That would be amusing and also mean that they'd be having to way off speed with cargo space.

I'll have to agree with Sorja on this one... it's sad how some players get supreme orgasmic jollies out of putting the shaft to as many as they can, in whatever way they can... and the more miserable the exploit the better their bragging rights. May they be rewarded appropriately in the next life... Cloune d'Que!! zhey iss all ze Cloune d'que!! |

surely its a reaction to the obscene risk/reward balance high sec mission runners get? every action has a reaction, if you move everyone to safe space then the griefers will follow them and try to push the game mechanics to the limit. Every 'carebear exploit' has been the result of nerf's to 0.0 and low sec space. Sentry guns added to safe space = long range snipes, Uber concord added = shield transfer exploits, instajumps = instagank setups. Every time stuff gets nerfed, the result is griefers that are even harder to deal with in-game as the setups needed to get around the nerfs usually mean victims cannot retaliate.
Eve will only settle down once players realise that complaining to the devs is not the solution, paying a merc corp or getting your own attack force together is. IMO carebears have been using the devs as an OOG exploit for years...
