Edited by: Sakura Yoshida on 20/04/2005 23:45:26 heya all, i'm getting really bored with just doing level 3 missions in suroken, i've made a bit of isk, and lots and lots of decent named items, but i'm just getting bored of doing the same missions over and over and over again.
can anyone suggest something fun and new i could do in eve? i'd love to go into 0.0 and try my luck, but i've had nothing but bad luck regarding 0.0, so i'd prefer something in higher security space :)
also, i've got a few nice webifiers, missile launchers, railguns, general EW stuff and cap rechargers if anyone wants to offer a nice price for them :)

what you want to do is find a PvP group to join. Alone you can't do much
Basically, find at least 2 people to fly with and decide together what to do

Personally I think eve is not the best PVE game out there. I would say its good, but there are certainly better games for this.
What really keeps me playing eve is PVP. Its what I would suggest doing if your bored of the game. I've been playing for a year now and have grown bored of more or less everything aside from PVP. I still get the chilles when engaged in a pitched battle.
Buy your self a frig, such as a rifter. Figure out one of the many good set up posted on these boards. And then go have a ball. Don't use anything that you can't afford to lose several times over, because TBH you'll lose your ship a few time before figureing all out.
Run around in 0.0 and engage everything thats not blue. Figure out an allience or group that your corp doesn't like and then go into thier space. A good set of instas will help you out a great deal, and they shouldn't be to hard to come by.

Kestrels are great for PvP, but can be annoying to fly.
I bought 70 Kestrels at a station near 0.0, and for a week ran raids into Stain. I got a Crow, 2 haulers, a pod and a Vigil. Lost 'bout 10 Kestrels. Problem is, if you don't get the jump on somebody, specially intys, you go down FAST. And given that it can take 30mins to get into 0.0 and find a target even with instas, it can get really annoying, really fast, if all you get for your 30mins searching is 3 seconds of combat before you're pwned. ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

yeah, i've had trouble getting used to the tiny range on the small missiles, i'm used to torps, which can basically go anywhere i can target. i hate using guns, though, so a kestrel is a good choice for me :)

make your own.
Get a shuttle, or a vigil with 3 nanos, and simply bookmark 9km or so to and from every gate on every main route.

is there any way to have combat without declaring war on eachother? like, for training? i'd like to try fighting some other players in practise fights in frigates, i think it'd be fun :)

other option is to offer youre protection services to a mining corp and fly guard duty on a foray into 0.0 space.
Or just go fly through as many systems as possible cant find ahuman player for PVP no worries just go hit hte belts blow up the NPCs and move on

You can shoot corp mates in Empire without concord interfering. Be careful though, it's CORP mates you can shoot, not gang mates.

u could find a smallish corp in the same area as you and declare a mutual war(as in no war costs). Sure u could say sommat like no podding etc. Will atleast give u practice in combat.
Frig combat is usually over pretty swiftly thou. You can make ur way through 0.0 without instas. Its quite easy really (thou i must admit ive never tried it in a tech1 frigate, only ceptors). Just be really picky with who + wot u engage. try and grab a few haulers or tech1 frigs + shuttle til ur happy, then u could try for a cruiser. Word of warning, most 0.0 ceptor pilots will hand u ur ass if ur in a tech1 frig thou so steer clear.
Maybe you should look at getting into a PVP orientated corp? This might help you gain valuable experience and also provide that fun u need.

You need to get in a corp that has more of a PVP focus.

hehe, yeah, the deimos is a pretty kickass ship :D i don't like cruisers much, though, too fragile, they usually don't survive a 30-second computer lockup (which i get whenever NPCs get close to me) :( i was gonna do stuff on eve last night, but i was so sleepy after half an hour of sleep the other night, it's lucky i didnt play, though, i fell asleep on the computer :P has anyone here ever fallen asleep and woken up in a pod or a shiny new body? that'd be a bad way to lose a ship :P

Try to get some PvP, but the problem of this game, you have to go back and do the boring stuff to make money to subsidize your PvP. Given the decrease in income in empire, this means you may have to work a little harder. You can try to decrease the cost of your PvP by being an interceptor specialist for example.
PvP is always fun, it's what in between that sucks. Other than that, I may look for another game that has little or no online cost for PvP, or include direct monetary gain as part of your PvP activity so you are not required to do "grind". I played an MMO once where 100% of the money making activity is earned from PvP; more money if you win, but you still get some money if you lose.

If your corp isn't a PvP corp and that's what your looking for then you need to move on tbh.
If you start shooting at people while still in the corp then you will get them into some trouble.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

one dead battleship filled with faction loot can keep you in ceptors for quite a while :-) PvP isn't ALL about losing money
PvP can be a huge buzz in eve, you just need to get past this silly mindset that lots of players have, where they actually get bothered about losing stuff

oh, i'm usually fairly ok about losing stuff, saving up for it again can be a bother (prices on ravens are too high), but generally, i don't feel bad for way too long after losing a ship :) still, the point is to blow up other ships, and not let your ship get blown up :P my corp doesnt do pvp yet, but we hopefully will be soon, it'll probably just be against pirates and stuff

Wheres the fun in PvP if you dont risk anything? You wont get anywhere near the feeling you get in eve PvP in another online game where you cant either a) lose something b) hurt the other guy by making him lose something.
