Well - it beats me. Tried several clean installs and still can't load my character info into the Shipfit application. Set the path - works fine, launches CM- works fine but no character info in shipfit.
Also, i can't close CM without getting a memory address error - have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to close it. Then I have to go thru the wizard every time to re-load the character info. If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful as this looks like a really neat tool.

Outstanding! Give this guy a Nobel prize. At least when he gets the tool working right.
Is there a forum for this tool somewhere, where I could make suggestions, bug reports, get latest patches etc.?
Unoftunately I couldn't get the tool working with Char Manager. I also noted that vampires don't work in simulation. They suck just thin air (not even that in space).
Even if you got it working with CM, it would be nice if you could tweak skills manually. Just to see visually how it would affect the ship, if you trained specific skills.
Also some kind of simple virtual combat simulator would be a nice addition.

Edited by: Miss Awful on 04/05/2005 17:07:36 Does anyone have a working link for the lastest version of that ship fitting tool ?
Edit: After hitting the retry button several times and setting my downloadmanager to repeat infinite, the link finaly worked for me:)

To anyone who cannot get this to work with Character Manager have you tried this link??? It is not the latest veresion but a step down and it works fine with CM, just make sure CM is installed to default directory and put the ship fitter wherever you want...

They CAN find each other, I can click FutureFalcon in either program and cycle between them, but Shipfit cant find my character.. How do I go about getting my guy in to Shipfit from CharManager?
Try this version of the ship fitter, it worked for me since it has a character manager menu with lots of options in it...

Stop all yer *****in and griping :P This is a pre-alpha stage program that someone has uploaded without authorisation. That means IT'S NOT WORKING PROPERLY YET AND THERE'S NO SUPPORT!
If I were Islay (THE GOD + creator of all things nice) I'd start issuing some sort of hidden ID that can track who got which program executable and stop kak like this happening. Works for me... I mean, at least then he would be able to root out the idiot who the uploaded program belongs to and uncerimoniously kick him in the teeth. |

I like it, it gave me a quick look at what I can do with my Vexor and what I really want to do with it. When the final product is out and allows for skills to take affect on PG/CPU and things like it will flat rock!
WHen that happens, I am donating!

I use the beta 21 version, but copied every thing from the data and library directories of beta 29 to beta 21. This way the newer ships are available in beta 21. I got the newest skills.xml from the char man forum and put it in the data directory of char man and ship tool beta 21. Now I have all the newest skills to.
So the ship tool works fine now. There are a few errors in the data though, but furthermore it's great!

Definitely an alpha, but very cool.
I noticed that it doesn't take the Repair skill into effect with the duration of armor repairers. It tells me my tank is sustainable, but in game it's not, because of the duration reduction.
Even buggy this program r0x0r's ur b0x0rs

I may have missed this in the thread but there are modules missing when I try to use the program. Like all of the large projectiles and the Microwarp drives. Is there something i need to do to update the program so all the modules show up?

ShipFit, although a fantastic tool, has not been released. Islay is also away from it all at the moment, as far as I am aware, and is not intending on releasing any work on this in the near future.
