This is all about the letter forwarded to CCP.
EVE Online Development Strategy (CSM Edition)
Potentials GÇö people who have never or only briefly subscribed. (90% Shiny, 10% Iteration) Newbies GÇö players with less than a year in the game. (70% Shiny, 30% Iteration) Veterans GÇö players with more than a year in the game. (10% Shiny, 90% Iteration) Bittervets GÇö unsubscribed veterans. (50% Shiny, 50% Iteration)
This is an ALT of a person that has been here since 2007. I have for the most part been active in one form or another. I try my best to be more constructive than bitter. If we do not let you know what is on our minds we do indeed become bitter.
Yes, I want to see more power given to Torfis team towards an effort for some kind of WIS progress. It has been promised for years. |

You'll probably need a bit more substance than 'it would be kewl and awesome', 'I'm a paying customer therefore I represent everyone' and 'CCP promised us WiS' though.
One of the biggest barriers for just getting a future customer to try this game is no avatar. Look at almost every bigger MMO out there and you see them. New blood into this game should be reason enough. I am sure you already know this though. Happy holidays.
The last stage of Incarna (and im my opinion the best and most important stage), multiplayer enviroments, was never released, which makes me wonder what would happen when they do release those.
I can't agree more. Everything before has not worked... |

Newsflash: Incarna as anything more than an avatar for CCP to sell accessories for didn't exist. I'm not just talking not implemented, I'm talking never designed, never planned, never advanced beyond the "hey wouldn't it be cool if _______ " phase. That's why current CCP has had to effectively start over from scratch with figuring out just what WIS should even be. It's important to remember, especially when you start talking about how WIS would be a revelation and bring in so many new subscriptions and whatever else. This feature, which you've all pumped up in your minds as The Next Big Thing was never anything but a vessel for microtransactions to CCP.
Everything always has to start as an idea. They actually had some pretty cool concepts I liked in the beginning. Contraband, Store fronts were a couple off the top of my head. I agree with you that game play is important but ya gotta start somewhere. I think many new players myself included have a hard time associating with only a ship and no avatar in the beginning. If I did not come here to join friends I already knew from a gaming community I may have left as well. Even just the social area would have been a step in the right direction IMO. |
