Hey everone,
Thanks for taking time to read this and hopefuly contribute somthing that will help me make up my damn mind alread! Curently I fly the ferox, a great ship, but recently ive been looking into getting a heavy assualt ship, either the zealot or the cerberus. Thing is I can't make up my mind on which ship to get. Was hoping you all could let me know what you think of each ship and what setup i coudl on each.
Thanks

Hmm... Anyone want to clue me in exactly why the zealot is better then both the ferox and the cerberus?

Edited by: Nikolai Nuvolari on 23/04/2005 02:50:33 I always thought that the Zealot was sort of a bad choice. If you're going to go with the Amarrian HAC's, I think the difference between the Sacrilege and the Zealot is night and day (bad pun when you consider the paint jobs, but I'm not kidding), I mean the most striking difference is that the Sacrilege can fit six weapons (6 high slots with 4 turret and 3 launcher hardpoints) whereas the Zealot can only fit four (5 high slots with 4 turret hardpoints). However, the Zealot DOES have the potential for an almost impenetrable armor tank because of it's 1600 base armor HP coupled with SEVEN low slots. As to the comparison between the Zealot and the Cerberus...well the first thing that comes to mind is that the Zealot and the Cerberus are about as opposite as you can get, how did it come down to this particular choice? If you have better missile skills, the Cerberus is about the best ship you can fly, except maybe for a Raven (but that's a story for another day). If your turret skills, particularly for laser turrets, are better, than the Zealot looks more appealing. As far as I can tell, you're going to do more damage in a Cerberus, but when properly set up, the Zealot might be able to last longer.
Oh and if you don't want that Ferox any more, can I have it? I like the Ferox, it's a very nice ship :) ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ |

Edited by: keepiru on 23/04/2005 03:22:09 and lo it was born, and it looked darn groovy, and they called it the GankaLot.
what does a RoF and Damage bonus + 7 lows say to you?
it's almost like a psych. test. to some ppl it says uber armor tank, to some ppl it screams 4 heavy pulse II and 7 heatsink II
sacri on the other hand is undoubtedly the king of tanking till the cows go m0o...

Zealot has 4 turret hardpoints yes but you can get some insane damage multiplier and RoF on that ship.. 7 lows is enough to handle a decent tank and still leave room for Heatsinks, or you could treat it as a Mini-Gankageddon and just go crazy with it.
Even after the pulse nerf, they still grill stuff leaner and meaner than anything else out there. George Foreman eat your heart out.
Also, I think i'm right in saying that its the second fastest of all HAC's.

not to mention it has really long "arms". with that range bonus on the guns, it means that with good sharpshooter, and heavy assault 4/5 you can hit with multifrequency, within optimal, outside of web range.
if you put a tracking computer II or a target painter II in one of your middle slots you could give any interceptor some real grief
i cant wait till i can fly one tho i have to admit to being very attracted to the vagabond... -------------

A Zealot can't do anything special over an Armageddon.
Armageddon with 4 dmg mods and 4 WCS does around 750DPS, compare that to around 590DPS max on a Zealot. The geddon is warp stable, can avoid being ganked by a gank bs (more hp), has 2500m3 of drones, and is fully insurable.
So whats going for the Zealot? It can warp like 2 or 3 seconds faster, whoopy ******* doo.
Cruisers being as unagile as they are plus the recent pulse nerf have really taken any desire i had to fly a Zealot away.
I used to be able to do somethings a geddon couldn't, now i can't.

Edited by: Hyey on 23/04/2005 05:01:20 the Cerb is seriously lacking and will continue to due so until tech 2 launchers and missiles come out. So go for the zealot, even though you mayaswell just get an armageddon because HAC's warp like bricks. Oh and you get insurance thats actually noticable back when you lose an arma. ~~ Hyey

Edited by: Blind Fear on 23/04/2005 05:13:05 The cerberus does **** damage. All that the thing is good for is a tank. It cant beat another cruiser that is tanked halfway decent but the cerb wont lose either. The zealot can become a beometh with heat sink IIs, like a mini-gankageddon but with some defense.

I would have suggested a scorp, which can still tank well, and shoot torpedoes from four siege launchers. Learn ECM skills, and you will be in demand by your corpmates for some gang up PvP.
But then most people considering a HAC are not a noob looking for his first battleship, but rather veteran players bored with battleships and looking for a more frivolous and sportier vehicle to fly. Thus HACs. Your greatest expenditure would be the time training. So the question is really, would you go for Caldari HACs (Eagle/Cerberus) or Amarr HACs (Zealot/Sacrilege). I would prefer the Amarr solution with the Zealot primary, and a Sacrilege a backup choice, over the Cerberus/Eagle combation.
However, if you have already have a lot of skill points invested on hybrids, the Eagle might be a better choice. Its style of fighting is much more similar to a Ferox with railguns as primary weapon.

Heh, not true. Most people now fly the Zealot with a gank setup like they would fly an Armageddon, and usually a minor armor tank. This thing HURTS like no Cerberus can.

And not many ships use EW atall..
The only true use for the Zealot is its damage. Yay, 10.x damage mod and a <2sec rof. Good for popping frigates is all, any tanked BS can withstand that long enough to force you to warp off.
