Edited by: altpicture on 24/04/2005 11:24:57 Hello,
I need some help in regard to Icelandic music, and was wondering if any Iceland resident Eve-ers could spare ten minutes to visit a few music shops and check availability of some bands for me?
I'm interested in obtaining vinyl if possible, CD's if I have to, of the following bands:
Studmenn Trabant Singapore Sling Slow Blow Quarashi
I'd appreciate any help in this.
Thanks
EDIT: This is Ghost Red, damn forum keeps defaulting to alt char, grrr!

These are all household names in the record shops here.
We have our own domestic version of Virgin Megastores, called "Skİfan"(www.skifan.is) but also a couple rare-stuff record shops which might hold rare b-sides and albums etc.

Thankyou Riddari.
Also, I found an Icelandic website called Bad Taste, which has a mail order service - typically I found it 5 minutes after posting the thread
If anyone ever comes across any of these bands music in a shop on vinyl, please grab it for me I'll see that you are suitably rewarded... Its actually quite difficult obtaining music from other countries - very few places seem to do decent import lists, especially from less known countries like Iceland. --------------------------------------------

Singapore Sling rock. However, I doubt you'll ever find any vynils of the newer bands (all but Studmenn, I'm afraid...however, there are plenty of those in circulation), unless something has changed in the Icelandic music industry very, very recently. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Most new stuff is pressed on vinyl as well, as well as re-issues of older stuff. Certainly true of UK and US bands, wasn't sure about Iceland though. --------------------------------------------

Yeah but what you will have to remember about Iceland is that the population is only 300k. The most popular mainstream cd's here only sell at max 20k units. At least I think that's about the range could be way off though but I doubt it is much more. The vinyl would sell in much less quantities and I wouldn't be surprised if we would be seeing numbers close to 100 and I just don't think that it is worth it. __________ Capacitor research |
