Edited by: Droidster on 24/04/2005 14:23:01 I would just like to point out that many of the agent offers are still highly illogical. Somebody needs to put more thought into the offers so that they make sense. Maybe I should just post a bug report for every self-contradictory offer?
Anyway, here is a typical example of an absurd offer:
Aid Your Compatriot Offered: 1,280,000 credits Cost: 640 LP, 80 Gallente Navy Midshipman Insignia II
Alright the main way to get these insignias is via two missions for Serpentis: Police Intrusion, or Gone Beserk, both of which feature Navy ship enemies. After doing about 20 level 1 missions (to get the 640 LP) and getting these missions a few times I had the following insignias:
13 Midshipman I 2 Midshipman II 1 Midshipman III
These proportions are pretty typical because I have done dozens of missions against Caldari Navy ( ) and get the middy tags in these approximate proportions.
Alright if it takes 20 missions to get 2 middie II tags, it will take 20 x 40 = 800 missions (!!!) to get 80 such tags. I have done hundreds of Gallente mission and don't have even close to 80 middie II tags.
Ok, now think about it: if you have done 800 missions how many loyalty points are you going to have? A LOT more than 640. So it is totally illogical to be making an offer like this. A logical number of tags to request would be 2, not 80.
Many of the offers are like this, either nearly impossible or self contradictory.
DRUG OFFERS
I would also like to point out the absolute absurdity and confusion created by the stupid drug offers. As a well-known trader I get literally dozens of queries from newbies for drug batches including x-instinct and exile. Hello, what are you guys on? These drugs are so insanely rare I have NEVER seen even 1 unit in over a year of play as a trader. In Curse there are standing regional orders for both of the drugs at 15,000 per unit which have NEVER been accepted. Look at the volume: ZERO units traded. Ok, you are asking newbies for 20 units of a drug that is so rare even the oldest players in the game never trade it.
So, now I have explain this to every freakin newbie that comes to me wanting to buy 50 million in exile for 400K.
Could we please get some logic injected into the offers, please? _____________________________________________ I am motivated by various things, mostly ISK. |

The drugs are not so rare as you think, they just never get traded because of the legality issues involved in moving them. Pretty much every Pirate hauler you destroy on an 'intercept the convoy' mission or any other mission involving rat haulers will drop some sort of drug as loot. I agree though the volumes involved in these offers are silly. I made the mistake of thinking I was getting a good price for some small arms from a new player before realising he meant 100k for the whole lot and not per unit :s Clarifying the offer text as to where the items could be acquired would go a long way I think. I might even go so far as to suggest some sort of midslot smugglers cargo-scan jamming module to enable the movement of illegal commodities for these offers more easily.

I agree 100%. Agent offers sometimes make absolutely no sense at all. Maybe they should keep a database that tracks how many times each offer is accepted and then they could quickly browse through it and determine the one's that are literally not even remotely possible to complete.

Oh yeah, how many units of exile and x-instinct do you have?

I never pick them up ever since I accidentally warped to a gate with some in my hold and only just managed to jet them in time to avoid customs trouble. Drug running is not my trade, but tere are others who make their money at it. I'm not saying the situation does not need looking into, just that it is not as bad as you think.

I have a few hundred atm i just sold a batch of 2000 exile so its not super rare,
Best way to get them, Lvl 3 agents you have tons of mission to kill NPC indys, pop them and they drop 10 of a drug each time, dont take long to build up drugs

LOL. "A well known trader" and you have not seen or traded a single drug? I got news for you :) First of all, like he said, you can usually find drugs on lvl3 missions. Second of all, there are NPCs that sell drugs all over the place. and Third of all, it's not all that impossible to smugle them. Its just very very hard, which makes the profession more rare and profitable. It took me MONTHS of testing, but I finaly got a smugling technique or two. At first I could only smugle in frigates, but now, I figured out a way to do it in haulers. Im thinking of the new step which is freighters, but Im not gona put my time into researching this unless somebody actually needs this at such massive scale. -={-Tovarish Gruzin-}=-

The main dumb thing about tag offers is that they always seem to be for the exact same amount of money I would get if I just sold the tags at a navy station.

offerID: some seed to create an Unique offer offerTypeID: Drug, implant, faction ship, etc... playerID: Wich player got this offer

Well thats quite an impressive achievement...
As the Smuggling Overseer for Es & Whizz - probably EVE's most professional narcotics supplier - i'd love to get in contact with you and discuss exactly how you are managing to fly industrials filled with illegals around the cluster.
Assuming you fly these industrials through empire then perhaps you could explain to me in private how you are able to evade both Customs and the monumentally large fines that such a fully laden ship would incur?
Rest assured my curiosity is purely professional - the methods we employ at Es & Whizz provide for us very well, with our large customer base and healthy profits a testament to this. However we're certainly not flying around in Iteron V's when we make our deliveries.
As for the "NPC's that sell drugs all over the place" - lets just say i wont wont be showing up at Serpentis Prime with a shopping list any time soon
So feel free to convo me for further discussion on this.

now that would be very cool.
would this cause any problems though?
I think if you want to sacrifice the mid slot for it, why not?

yeh following on from soto,
there's a lots of talk, myths and rumours about contraband. there are two problems with really confirming any possible techniques. the random chance factor makes it very hard to produce any hard evidence, as without huge amounts of data would not be possible to outrule the fact that someone could by just very very lucky.
also, i'm not sure if all the GMs are also aware of the exact mechanics of the situation. i have heard of different answers from different GMs about this.
I would agree with Droidster that the X-instinct and Exile offers for level 1 agents are definitely out of step. |
