Can we have ship manufacturing broken down so that they can be realistically transported.
Something perhaps like using a factory slot to "Break down" a ship.
Say if you had a Scorpion, it would break down into "Scorpion: Engine", "Scorpion: Upper Hull", "Scorpion: Lower Hull" "Scorpion: Pylon", "Scorpion: Electronics", "Scorpion: Engineering section", "Scorpion: weapons suite"
And it would pop out a Scorpion assembly instructions sheet as well (This is important for later). Basically as many sections as are economical and prudent according to your vision of playbalance, each section taking up like 10k m3 or so. SO you could shuttle a good deal of components back and forth from your manufacturing center to a sale point, or even just move ships if your patient enough.
Once you get it to where you want it, you put the Assembly instructions into a factory slot (they function as a BPO requiring solely the components, but please dont make them blue) and the components get assembled into a ship.

Hmm, might be handy for moving a shipment of cruisers to a dangerous area in one large well defended Freighter Convoy... I'd certainly love this.
I'd be happy enough if the ship "chunks" total volume was equal to teh minerals volume divided by number of "chunks".
FLying ships one by one is a damned hassle, and I hate it, so a change like this could be quite handy.

Edited by: The Enslaver on 26/04/2005 10:28:02 Whilst an interesting idea, only manufacturing changes that are needed is for Cruiser construction to take around 12 horus and BS 48, at a minimum.
At the moment BS's are insanely easy to get hold of, doing this might increase the rarity of them a 'little'.
However maybe this is something that could be looked at in future... --------

Not sure I understand this. The biggest caveat would be that these parts can only be broken down from a complete ship, which would mean that if any one of the parts got accidentally destroyed/sold/stolen/refined, then the rest of the ship is worthless...unless you're proposing to release BPO's for sections of the ship as well.
Also, how would this be any different or easier then just transporting minerals and building the ship in a factory (besides the obvious time involved)? And if you have a ship that you just want to transport, why would you break it down into hunks that had to be carried by haulers instead of just flying the damn ship? The only people that might benefit from this would be those that bought ships they can't fly yet...heh.

T2 battleships with thier production time (est over 48 hrs if they follow the frig/cruiser trend) We'll get exactly what ppl need. -----------------------

BPO's for the individual parts would be cool.
The idea is to make a Battleship fit on two haulers or so, It may seem ***** to you but there are organizations with large amounts of pilots who can't fly Battleships or more specifically can't fly all races battleships.
Of course this would be REALLY beneficial for Cruisers and frigates, compressing it down so that you could transport the parts for like 2 cruisers on one indy, and like 4 frigates.

this would have been a cool way to do ships. Bpo's for each part. Also then if a ship got destroyed, parts of it might be salvagable. _______________________________________________________

not a bad idea. It would be nice to do away with having shuttles scattered across the universe.
Won't the transport ships have the capacity to move most small to mid-sizedships? ________________________________________________ 0.0 Come fly with us... |

And who's fault is that? The pimps that hoe their blueprints for copies, thats who. Increase copy time of blueprints 10x times and much of that problem will go away.
bpc's is like blue gold. It gives you isk for no risk what so ever and been screwing up the tech1 market with the devs blessing since forever. In the start I can understand bpc's was of some use, but at this time in the game?

Signed, sounds like a good plan to be honest.
I make all caldari frigs, and to be able to move them to a place where i can make a better profit, isntead of moving all my minerals, bpo's etc.. in runs, i can move 4 frigs at a time.
very good plan. _________________________________
