I played abit with some setups and this is my latest test:
2x named cruise launchers 6x tachyons
4x named cap rechargers
2x L named armor reps 1x reactor control unit T2 1x power diag T2 1x named cap relay 2x armor hardeners
Any suggestions? ---------------------------------------------

Thats the sniper setup I was going for though, maybe changing a Heatsink for a tracking enhancer, and was hoping to squeeze a target painter in the mids too. The tachs use a lot of grid though, can anyone confirm how long you can keep your guns going? -----------------------------

I can run 6x tachs and 1x L armor rep forever and with 2x armor reps about 10mins ---------------------------------------------

Forget tachs unless they're Tach 2s or you have good named ones laying around. I use Mega Modulated Beams because I have a full rack of them.

I would suggest switching to meag beams(not what you want to hear i bet) Either mega modulated or mega beam II's. You'll find that they do the same DOT (mega beam II with lvl5 spec skill) as a tach modulated for less grid.
might want to try
6x mega beam II's (21450 grid) or 6x mega modulated (19500 grid)
2x Seige (3500 grid)
4x Cap rechargers
1x larg accom 1x med rep II 1x pdu II (RCU II if beam II's) 1x HS II (Cap relay if beam II's) 3x Hardeners

for l4s I use..
4 x Dual heavy beam II 3 x Mega beam II (just for that extra oomph ) 1 x siege
4 x eutectics
2 xlarge accom 3 x hardeners 2 x cap relays..
and a mixture of med/heavy drones.
Works well tbh :) except them supreme rouge dron biatches can be tough just have to tank it as best as you can and pack multi freq em to death :\

That's what I use, and it works quite well. Best to use named repairers/cap recharger IIs. -Mejare

Tachyon: 10% more range, 25% more falloff, 2% more dmg/s Beam: 10% more tracking
Tach sounds nice, except it takes 46.2% more energy to fire, more cpu and 500 more grid! A full rack of 8 on apoc would take 4000 more grid than beam, and will definitely take at least one more of your slots for grid boosting. Compare that to using beams and having either a Tracking Comp II, Heatsink II or whatever else you want in that slot.
For geddon, a full rack of 7 Tach would take 3500 more grid, and geddon is strapped to the max as it is. Beam gives MUCH more clearance for damage mods. I wouldn't run anything else on mine, I do normal-space L4 missions at 120km with Mega Modulated Beams, most fun I've had on missions, much better even than pre-patch pulse.
(And for Tech 2, Tach is 550 more than beam, at a whopping 4125 per gun. 28875 grid for 7, or 33000 for 8? That's back-breaking.)
