Hi, I just got back to EVE after a brake and wanted to do some exploration. Problem is that after scanning a lot of different systems (using 2 characters) for several days (4 days actually), I managed to find only one 8/10 complex. There are lots of magneto/radar/grav sites, also wormholes and low-end complexes, but no DED (well, only 1).
Did CCP altered the respawn rate for DED lately? I heard they modified the respawn rate / numbers of anomaly's though.
Thank you! |

You're probably scanning down every signature from what it sounds like, wasting valuable time, or the rng just be hatin. I find ded sites regularly. Check this forum section for St Mio's deep space probe guide. Should help some. In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has angered numerous people for many different reasons and is widely considered as a 'bad move'. |

Thank you, I used Deep Space probes . But we both know one need to pass over 25% to see the site type and you can also notice the low-end complexes anyway. |

Clearly you're not familiar with how to use Deep Space probes properly - you don't need to get past 25% to identify sites if you're familiar with their returns on a max range DSP cycle. Seriously read the guide, it's pretty chill.
As for your actual question, I'm pretty sure they're still on the 'set amount per region' plan. Meaning a site respawns somewhere else in the region as soon as it's completed - so you're just being unlucky/the DED's are stuck in a deadend system no one is scanning/someone else is finding them before you. |

If you're looking for a 10/10 and using Deep Space Probes, the only signatures you should be finding are the ones in the bottom row. If you're only looking for 10/10s but you're finding 8/10s, you're doing something wrong :P
Not sure how long your break was, but a few months ago they halved all the signature strengths, maybe the sheet you're using is outdated? |

Thank you for your replies! Well, as I see it, if I'm looking for an 8/10 or 10/10, I still must scan a site to over 25% to see the type, since they share the same sig radius (on row); ofc looking for only 10/10 makes things easier :). But maybe you're right and I'm doing it wrong. Probably in NPC 0.0 there are probably less hi-end available sites than owned 0.0 (conflict. upgrades, etc). Or maybe I'm just one of those very unlucky people :) |

FYI there has never been any evidence at all that suggests that the "they respawn somewhere else in the region when completed" is actually true. It is a theory that just keeps getting repeated.

Posting to agree with this post. To add to it, I have encountered sufficient evidence to suggest the contrary, that sites are toggled by security (high/low/null) and faction. The latter part of this may be different for drones (but who cares) and is different for some ladar sites (the ones tied to specific constellations/regions).
In short though, 100% agree, someone posted it on the forums ages ago and everyone just started repeating it, thus solidifying it as "fact."

Freely admit I'm regurgitating 'accepted' knowledge. Used to think this theory was based on fw plex respawn mechanics which were stated to be modified plex respawn mechanics but I have no idea if this is true. Do have anecdotal evidence of seeing plexes spawn shortly after completion but I'd love actual evidence either way. |

I knew someone who was planning on scientifically disproving the "Respawns in same region" theory but I think they got banned from logging into game for trolling too much [:D] |

I honestly don't know why a dev doesn't just post explaining the mechanics. It would make life far easier and stop the same posts appearing every couple of weeks. |

They don't want to say how it works, because if its broken we will be able to figure it out, and they'll have to fix it. |

As far as I remember, there was a tendency for the sites to accumulate within 1 or 2 constellations within a region, leaving the rest empty.
Also CCP should fix DED plex milking. In an 8/10 you can destroy the faction battlestation, pick up the loot, leave without touching the guardian (despawn condition) and get back after DT for more milking since the station will be back again. |

Maybe solar systems with a higher number of celestials have a higher chance of gaining the respawns? hmm... :) |

I was referring to the connection to constellation.

That is something they have come out and stated: that they won't reveal the actual spawn mechanics.
I can contribute some points from experience (I have screenshots too):
Sites will despawn in approx. 3 days if not run.
DED plexes and other (escalation type) combat sites seem to be different. I have on several occasions found the same escalation type combat sites in one system, however only once have I found more than one of the same DED (the brand new 7/10) in a system. This was right after the new sites were released and there were some spawn bugs then as you may recall.
Sites do tend to accumulate in out of the way systems or systems where no one is plexing for whatever reason (4 combat sites 2 mags in KVN a couple days ago). This is largely an irrelevant point concerning spawn mechanics though, as they would accumulate in this way regardless of what is causing them to spawn.

Gurista DED 5/10 > Gurista DED 6/10.
Easier to find and easier to do (speed = everything).

That's probably just because not everyone does unrated combat sites, but everyone will hump the DEDs. I too have found two or even three DED sites in one system - it's just a rare occasion, that's all. Well and the problem when the new nullsec sites were introduced was that sites didn't respawn at all until at downtime, but that has been fixed. |

I would really like to know if the way the Guristas DED 5 works right now is intended ... it's the only one i know that doesn't allow MWD ...

I haven't encountered any 5/10 yet. Are they lowsec only (I never go to lowsec)?
Anyways, the Guristas 6/10 takes me 20 mins and the ever so sweet a-type booster has graced my cargohold 6 times. Plus all those a-type shield mods are nice too.
I would like to try these 5/10s though. |
