Everywhere I go, pirates, pirates, gate campers, pirates, more pirates, and even pirates in high sec sectors.
Why does a person playing EVE feel such a strong urge to destroy something for absolutely no logical reason or explanation? Do they get any kind of thrill, or reward afterwards?
I'm just minding my own buisness, flying through 0.0 when an entire blockade of 30+ ships webs and jams me and tells me to wire all of my cash or die. I try to go back through the jumpgate, but it tells me I am unable to. I give them all of the money that I had (100K on me) and they killed me ANYWAY. Afterwards, they blocked me and I got an eve-mail saying that they will declare war on my corp.
WHAT THE F**KING HELL IS WRONG WITH PIRATES?

Edited by: Naal Morno on 30/04/2005 02:58:52 This is very sad, but at the same time describing what most EVE players are about.
This game, with its RL inaccountability, presents the most fertile environment for scum of RL (or just plain frustrated people who would get much more benefit from redirecting their anger/frustration in RL ventures), to prosper and flourish.
I would like to point out, to anybody denying my statement above, that it takes REALIZATION to come to this conclusion. So please no snappy, no close minded gang-a-robots of IQ below 80 are not invited to reply :) (my sting phrase for this evening)
Thank you and please discuss.
PS. Om the flip side, thank you for doing my job for free for me to people who like T2 stuff and need to buy it again (think on this one if capable) Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

What i can't understand is they moan no one goes into 0.0 yet they blockade all the routes in to 0.0 with 10-20 ships.

hehe a situation which will soon change seeing as 0.0 will have around 3 or 4 dozen entrances instead of just 5.

Being a space pirate is one of my dreams. EVE lets me be a space pirate. Sure, I could be a space miner, but that's not exciting to me.

Not all the routes are blocked. Just the most widely used ones are.

So everyone's a loser in real life and is directing their loser-related anger towards a video game?
Or everyone just likes to fight and noobtards like the threadstarter tend to get in the way and get killed?

Edited by: Silver Night on 30/04/2005 04:43:30 Now, I'm what people in the piracy business call a "carebear". I have millions of SP in industry and science skills. The veldspar excites me. That being said, PvP is a huge part of Eve. Pirates fill a role. They make it more interesting. If you are running around 0.0 in a shuttle without being careful, you can expect to be killed. Thats the nature of 0.0. Most people in Eve are not pirates. In fact, a large number, possibly even a majority, rarely if ever engage in PvP. That probably minority help give the game an interesting edge that is as intregal to playing as warping or ISK or :D MINING :D. Without PvP, Eve would be boring and completely pointless. If you don't like it, don't play. Alternatively, stay in a NPC corp in .5+, and you will forever me nearly untouchable. Incidentally, not every Gank squad you run into in 0.0 are pirates. There are all sorts of different PvPers. ------------------ Silver Night Director - Production and Science (\_/)This is Bunny. This is right on the money. CCP could fix this with adding a few more gates into 0.0. However..if you get shot up in 0.0 you cant really blame anybody but yourself mate.

i would like to make it clear. i am a pirate. i also consider myself a noble pirate, if i randsom you and you give me the money you are safe from me and my corp mates for the next 24hours, basically until i'm on the next day.
i know there are unproffesional pirate that are just out to blow up a ship, i'm not like that. i hunt in belt in an assualt frig. there is no boring gate camping with me.

One problem you'll find in 0.0 is so often theres open hostilities between the different factions that claim the space.
When there are open hostilities the neutrals are killed on sight. This is not because we dont like neutrals but because we don't like noob corp alts (like me ) spying and we dont know who has been hired to attack us. Its just excersising good military sense.
Of course there are people that just gank at the choke points for "fun" personally that bores the hell out of me but in 0.0 theres all sorts of weird people

The problem lies not in 0.0 but rather in the mechanics of the PVP within eve.
Eve supports the "runner" always has. Because of this it is nearly impossable to deal out "player justice". Through the use of "insta's, and "safe spots" it is far to easy for a player to escape combat. Now while to the average "carebear", or "Industrial player" the idea of being able to avoid combat seems unbelievable, but to the "pirate, or PVPer" it is very real. Because of this abilty to "escape from combat" usually it is a inexperianced PVPer that die's (not including fleet battles which is a totally different story), or somone who does not posses the neccisary "bookmarks" to escape from combat.
Bounty hunters realized this early in EVE, and because of this bounty hunting is, and always has been, either a dead or very frustrating trade. Because of this frustration most corps that begin as bounty hunters turn to piracy, because it is nearly impossable to kill a experianced PVPer, compared to the ease of killing somone who is prone to make mistakes, or not have the reasources needed to "escape".
The mechanics can also be blamed for the reason that most pirate corps do not really fight each other, and are more prone to "allie", because it is easier to accept that this person has the experiance, and resources to escape from combat, so rather then chasing each other around for a very long time with limited results they work together at best and at least do not fight with each other.
It is this inability to deal "player justice" that is to blame, if the mechanics that made it easy to escape from combat were removed then players would actually have to face "real consequences" for thier actions, not done by standings or by faction, but done by players themselves.
It is true that removing these mechanics will result in more carebears being shot. It will also even the playing field between a player that does nothing but PVP and the average player who uses industry to make thier money, but is willing to fight for reasons of revenge, justice, or bounty.
Because PVPers will be playing on the same field as everone else the need to "allie" will dissapear, and rather then everyone shooting everything they can most people will stop and consider before ingaging. There will of course be a few die hard pirates out there that will attempt to shoot everything in sight, but it will only be a matter of time before they themselves die by "player justice".
I used to have a nice sig but it keeps getting removed by somone with no explanation. Typical isnt it. |

Well, this is absolutely fantastic. Nobody believes me, and even further they mock me.
I think the only viable solution to this problem would be to just amass an enormous army [No I'm not kidding, check my corp.] and go through all of the 0.0 sectors slaughtering any freaking pirates that are in sight.
I'm sick and tired of it, there's no possible way to go through a low sector without meeting pirates and/or dieing.
See everyone in a bit with 60 armas and 40 apocs.

100 BS Fleet?? Wooot?? Bring it on. Its a bit quiet up north since FoE Started to collapse. Our record recently was 90 BS plus 90 support ships in one gang lagged so bad we thought the server was gonna fall over add another 100 BS in there and we will be down to 2-3 frames a minute
Seriously thoough I mean it. If you want to charge into 0.0 with a huge fleet like that then the 0.0 alliance will welcome the fight.

I believe you, but this particular forum is 'PRO' pirating, ore thieving, ganking etc etc.
Simply put, you're not going to get any sympathy here. I'd take it to EVE General discussion.
