I love most of the audio in this game, but the warp sound effect just ruins it. I like to turn my audio way up in games for the atmospheric effect, but I leave it low for EVE because I go deaf when I warp if the rest of the audio is where I'd like it to be. Plus I don't want to listen to a wall of white noise right in the middle of Imagine or Angie. Anyway to get rid of it or make it quieter with screwing with the rest of the audio? --- yub yub |

You are not alone in this effort, the warp sound is way to loud, and has been for far to long.
CCP, Please include either a volume control for this insanely loud sound or include a way to turn it off!

Just a thought, but you need to keep in mind that the effect of jumping through space/time has a monsterous impact on the everything around the ship. If it were a simple windshield wiper noise, I think not only would it feel out of place but you would feel as if your ship was slipping across a wet kitchen floor versus flying through space at amazing speeds.
Granted, sound does not exist in space. But even still, the sound replicators within the pods (read the EVE backstories) are meant to generate sound based on distance+impact of effect+type of effect. ------------

if that were true then our speakers would have to blow out if our ships got destroyed.
the sound is way too loud compaired to anything else in game, and as such i play eve with no sound, remember as realistic as u may want it to sound, it is only a game and is meant to be fun.. very loud noises are not fun when u dont want to hear them!

I'd like to see that it is possible to disable all sound except for the ship computer noises and alerts.

Yeah, while I think the warping noise is pretty cool, I usually turn the Eve music off and listen to mp3's, and the warping is ungodly loud.
I'd really like to have a slider bar for warp noise or be able to mute it.

so if this is such an uber hi-tech device, why can't i just reprogam it and replace the warp sound with random futurama quotes or something the like...

Yeah I'm on th bandwagon of just turn it all off too. To bad I like most of the other sounds. Just that warp sound has gotta go! Maybe we can replace it with a gentle *sigh*?? hmmm?
PS. Thanks for all the fish

I've created a temporary patch for people who find the warp sound annoying. It replaces the 3 warp-sounds with empty ogg sound files. Meaning the warp sound will not be heard AT ALL. If enough people care, I'll redo the patch so the warp sounds still exist but are greatly reduced in volume.

The warp sound is overpowered! Nerf it!
No seriously, when a game sound drowns out Prodigy, you know something's wrong.

Should be very carefull doing stuff like this mate, modifying the client is a bannable offence (but yes, unlikely this will do any harm ) Darwin 4tw

I strongly recommend disabling sound altogether.
Believe it or not, it actually reduces lag, particularly in missile-intensive situations.
The EVE client is notorious for having issues with souncards. I havent played with the sound on since about three weeks after i started. Much better listening to random rants on ts or music of your choice.
Just turn it off my friend. To be fair, the ingame music is a little too etheral, particularly when the listener is in illegal states of mind... (\_/) (O.o) (>o<) Bunny's too tight to mention... |

Yup, I agree.
