Hi. I want to go into gate camping, but not sure what ship to get and how to set it up. I was thinking a Tempest, Apoc, Typhoon, or a Geddon could do it. But I have no idea how to fit the ship. If anyone can respond to this or post a link to another forum topic. It would be great. If you do post a link make sure its a gate camp topic because iv read alot of long range set-ups but they are for NPCs.
Thanks in advance.

It's not that hard to setup a ship for sniping. You need to do two things:
1. Target something from over 150km away 2. Hit something from over 150km away
So, fit enough sensor boosters to boost your lock range over 150km. Fit long range guns on your ship and load them with long range ammo. Fill the rest of your mid slots with tracking computers. Start filling your low slots with tracking enhancers until you boost your optimal+falloff well over 150km. Fill whatever low slots you have left with powergrid mods (if you need them for your guns), damage mods, or warp stabs.

I think the Tempest or the Megathorn make the best sniper's when set up with there long range weapons.
Tempest got good damage over long range with the 1400's and with skills you can do some real nice damage at 150km+ and have a nice rof.
Megathorn the 425's rails got nice range and good punch even at 150km+ and with the damage and tracking bonus you can track more or less any ship no mattor how fast at that range.
I have not used a megathorn but that is what i have been told by a corp mate who has a mega and dose gate camp with it.

Raven hands down. It's the best range ship in the game.
You'll have to snipe at 500m though.

target painter does not work at 150km...
Try blasterthron at gate camping in empire... it works very very well.

With skills trained to 4:
Optimal: 42km Falloff: 84 km
Optimal + 1,5 * falloff = 167 km.
You'll get 33% effectiveness, which is more than enough to make quite a difference. ------------------------------------------------------- "Do you really think that's air you're breathing?" |

TEmpest, Apocalypse or Megathron
Start by fitting enough sensor boosters to get 160km targetting range (2x sensor booster II should be enough). enough RCU's to fit your long range weapons (6x 1400mm, 7x tachyon or 7x 425mm). Then enough Tracking Computers II and/or Tracking Enhancers II to get a really good optimal with ranged ammo (155km+). In the case of tempest, dont bother getting such a high optimal, make use of the Falloff, try fitting Gyrostabilizers insted.
I think you got the idea
I know that at 170km sentrys dont shoot u, but they do at 151km, iv heard they dont shoot from 155km and up. You'll have to find out, sorry.

Apoc With t2 Tachs
Basically you need 8 tachs II's, two sensor booster, two tracking computers then in the lows enough RCUII's to fit the tachs the rest heatsinks, also some guy sensor/tracking boosting in a blackbird also helps.
