There is a horrid bug that will adjust the PRE-EXISTING faction level of ppl doing missions to AgentLvlx2.
Ie: I have Minmatar faction at 5.89 and Repub Parliment 5.50... I do a Agent 2 mission for Repub Parliment... I end up with Repuc at 4.0 and Min at 4.0.
It is conceivable (if NASTY) that the intent was to 'fix' the faction gained on NPC corps to the new max of agentx2. However, there are probs...
You do an agent 2 mission, cap at 4.0. Do an agent 3 mission get a +0.02 then u are 4.02.
Do an agent 1 mission and you are 2.0.
Do an agent 3 mission you are 2.02, another 2.04 etc... this is a BUG - not a feature :P
I believe the intent as stated by Papa Smurf was that going forward agent faction adjustments will cap at the agent's level x2. Read again, their faction ADJUSMENTS not the player's faction. So if you are at Faction of 5.86, you need to use a lvl 3 agent to advance, BUT can do lvl 1 agents for whatever reason you wish... and if you do another corp's agent (u start with lvl 1) and this corp is in the same empire - you do not lose all your work.
PLEASE give us an eta.
I want to try the new agent features but am fearful of borked-dom.
If it is not going to be fixed until August with Papa, fine but let us know if this is something for next patch or couple weeks after Papa gets home and see's the mess agents are in?

Got the same bug.
Had a faction of 10.0 with the Galliente federation, CONCORD and some others before doing an level 1 agent mission, as soon I completed the mission, all my factions went down to 2.0

You are lucky ... even have done an AGENT Mission Level 1 for Concord and IN ADDITION my SEC RATING was dropped from 4.8 to 2.0, apart from the loss in Corp and Faction standings down to 2.0 also.

Still no interest in replying by devs on what I and others believe is a VERY serious potential customer relations nightmare.
Why not respond or warn BEFORE you **** off everyone? Why wait till people who have played months have their enjoyment ruined?
Why be idiots?

Didn't you bother to read a single post?
The intent was to prevent faction gains beyond 2x the agent level. i.e. if you have 3.0 standing with a corp, and you run a L1 agent mission, you won't reset, but you won't get anything either. We've all seen Papa's comment, you don't need to keep pointing it out to people without reading the posts in the topic.
Resetting faction is a bug - For one, a part of the agent system is the ability to obtain agents in different corps. These agents are guaranteed to be lower level than the one that you are referred by. Why go to a lower level agent if it's going to reset your faction standings that you worked hard for?
In addition, the code resets negative faction to -2x the agent level. Think about this a little bit and you'll realize that this is an Extremely Bad Thing.

I thought I should also mention this explicitly, since it wasn't mentioned here and this seems the most likely place for devs to read about bugs that need fixing.
The cap applies every time you take a new mission. So for example, if you do missions for a level 2 agent (bringing any faction ratings with an absolute value > 4 to 4), and then after a while do a mission with a level 1 agent of another company, your faction ratings will now all cap at 2.
For a direct in game example, I currently have a level 3 agent in the Carthum Conglomerate, an Amarran corporation. Most of my faction ratings are around 4.x. I am interested in getting a good faction rating with the "Kador Family" corporation, and the "Imperial Family" corporation, what with my character's name and all. However, if I take a mission from a level one agent in either the Kador Family or the Imperial Family, all of my faction ratings will be capped at +-2.0. Including my rating with the Carthum Conglomerate, and with the Amarran Empire. So this bug effectively means that doing a mission for the Emporer will cause him to like me less.
I guess that's Amarran politics for ya? |

The new decription what will be in todays update didn't said anything THAT THIS HAS BEEN FIXED.
Come on CCP this is a major fault and it REDUCES "PLAYFUN" terrible and know, EVE didn't have much playfun left after two month playing.
So please correct this NOW, not later. And adjust our standings back to the proper values.

We know about this bug and it will be fixed soon. It should not require a new client patch, it looks like a database change will fix it. I'll post an ETA on the fix here when I get it.
Edit: looks like an ETA isnt needed, this has been fixed on Chaos (test server). Tranquility (live server) is being patched with this fix. The agent's still have their cap, the level 1 agent's will only raise your standing so high, same for the other levels. But you shouldn't drop in standing anymore if you have higher standing than their cap.

but this does not fix the lost standing and faction points. "Let us have faith that right makes right, and in that faith let us to the end dare to do our duty as we understand it."
