Hey people,
I'am thinking of getting back into running missions. In particular for the purpose of getting one of my newer character some implants.
Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on acquiring implants or maybe a link to a guide?
Thanks, - MadBoy

Edited by: Valerien on 04/05/2005 04:56:51 Well, not sure how much you know so... two ways to get those implants: agent offers and important missions.
Every 16 missions you complete in a row- without declining or failing a single one- will trigger an important mission. It is completely random whether you will get an implant or not but it's pretty rare. I'd say 1 out of every 4 rewards implant in my experience. Those important missions are handed out by random storyline agents who may or [more often] may not be in the same corp you work for, so you can get any implant type through importants- it's not restricted.
Then there's agent offers. You need at least 10k loyalty points to get the standard "basic" implants which offer +3. More often though since patch I noticed the 15k mark is a better target if you want something like memory or intelligence. It seems those implants will cost you more LP from what I've seen. You can also get any implant type no mater who you work for, it's completely random.
Best thing I say is to work a level 3 agent to at least 15k LP then just wait. Once the agent makes an offer, if he doesn't give you an implant or you don't like the type he offers, decline and then do just one mission again for him (so that he'll offer again- otherwise he will never offer again). But that's it, don't do anymore because now you want to keep loyalty points closer to 15k as long as you can.
Or you can do level 4 missions and aim for the very nice 80k LP and 120k LP marks, where you can get bulk implant offers. Like 8 basic ocular filters for 80k LP.
Hope somethign in there helps you

CCP made the bulk implant offers not as cost effective as the 1 implant offers.
Notice that 8 basic implants will cost 120k LP,or 15k lp each.1 basic implant however will cost only 10k LP each. Therefore getting the same basic implant offer 8 times is far far better than just getting one offer that gives you 8 basic implants.

There is one more way but im not sure how its triggered. This what happend to me: My agent gave me a mission where she required about 400-500 zydrine. The reward was 98.000 and the bonus a couple of crappy mods. I thought "WTF - worst mission ever". I did it anyway as i didnt want to break my chain of succesful missions. When the mission was done and I talked to the agent she said something like "Great job, your contribution is much appreciated. Here is a gift from us" - or something like that. And to my surprise a +4 social implant popped up in my hangar. I have not had one like that since so they might be very rare. Anyonelse got this "extra" bonus? Xerxes

Actually, there are two types of implant offers. 1) Implant offers based on division, they are cheaper and just as cost effective even though they are multiplied by 8 (i.e. you're getting 1 implant for X isk in both cases).
2) There are offers which are not based on division and have really no pre-requirements, these offers are a little more costly than the divisional implant offers. They are just as cost effective when you multiply them as well. However if you compare an 8 implant non-divisional offer, vs a 1 implant divisional offer, then obviously each implant is more costly for the non-divisional offer (as is always the case).
Note: These rules only apply to attribute giving implants, not the skill boosting ones.

Ah ok, that explains it then. The divisional offers are still 10k LP per implant while the non-divisional ones are 15k LP per implant, right?
Would you be willing to break down for us what division awards what type of implant? I'm assuming Internal Security/Security -> Perception/Willpower. I'm interested in what the Personnel, Administration and Command divisions award...
