If I remember right, the Mayan calendar actually ends on the 23rd. According to this anthropology/archaology book written way before the Mayan end-of-the-world craze. Don't know, but I suspect the internet word of mouth thing garbled the date to the 21st. Which more neatly corresponds to the winter solstice and the Wicca Yule celebration.

Hmm... From what I can find, it will be at the end of Happy Hour, wherever you happen to be. Kind of a rolling end-of-cheap-drinks and end-of- the-world, one time zone at a time. But some other sources say it will be later in the evening, at Last Call for Alcohol. It's hard to get an accurate answer about any of this.
