Since nostalgia seems to be a popular topic:
How many corps left from beta are still operating?

prolly quiet a few, the question is how "true" they still are to their former self. I.e. is the name important or the ppl who make the corp ?

Very true our core business plan was centered around drone production but blame CCP for it's fubared technology research tree for not allowing specialized industrial corps to function.
Regardless we still hold true to our founding principles.

The first steps Evolution was founded roughly 2 years before EVE release, the plans and schemes for the initial corporation still lives on, altho after the beta, where we used the name TAOSP, we decided on a different approach. The people are the same, the core of the corp are still around, the attitude was always the same, and the temawork as well.
Our first "real" appearance would be the by now infamous (for the oldies), when we declared war on Endless Corp in beta 4, whereas Hellgremlin replied "What? All 8 of you?".
Evolution has a long and rich history, and some of the oldest players in the game. The beloved frstkor (Homo Erectus) was around for alpha version of Eve, along with Quar (Dakkon, not Daakkon) and Phae(Xuesia). Dukath and me joined in from beta 2, and then we simply added up those who got beta accounts, making us grow ingame, but out of game, we still had a waiting list of tons of ppl, who were in the corp, but not had beta acconts.
We have always been around, and we will always be around. The core of the people are here, some active, some not, but all are still around. Evolution is so much more then a corporation in a game, 15-20 of us has knonw each other for 5 years or more.
And yes, we can still smell the sea.

Edited by: Murphy on 08/05/2005 08:49:39 Dirty Deeds has been around since before we even heard of Eve. I've been a member for 4 or 5 years now. We started playing back in beta and have been using the name Dirty Deeds Corp. [DDC] ever since. Steel Rat has always been da boss man. Since I joined I've been telling him what to do and how to run things, Too bad he doesn't listen to me
We're still here, alive, kicking and causing problems as usual and will be for a very long time -------------------

Someone asked whether original characters still remained in beta corps. In relation to STK, I'm pretty sure that its only Temerlyn and Cazaril now that were original members and are still about. No doubt 1 or 2 other 'quiet' members may jump out but thats all that comes to mind. Salgurdar, another original only left recently, out of Eve altogether. He was famous for putting 8 mwds on scorpions and doing ridiculous speeds, until the mwd nerf of course.
The founding character of STK, Mozart has long since been deleted. Most of the original characters were EQ refugees, who now no longer play Eve for whatever reason, rather than them having left STK for elsewhere.
We have always tried to have a mix of things, bit of mining, bit of defence, bit of production - but of late its been tilted in favour of production as many of our fighters left Eve entirely. So although around since Beta, we never really had a vacant time - the corp has always done well, owns plenty of bpos with money in the bank. A lot of the other older corps are just a 'shell' now (guess who don't sue) but STK is very much active.

Xanadu joined EVE during first beta stage, some of us were allready ingame during alpha. As a community we look back to 6 years of history in online gaming now.
Just yesterday i found a folder of beta/alpha screen shots... kinda funny to see what changed since then! Upluntis 7, the old UI, stations that could be destroyed with just 120k torpedos, stavros shooting my cargo ship (beta pirate, allways a pirate :) ), devs using titans to kill beta testers when they were fed up...
I am happy to see many old names in this thread, hope to still see the same names in a year.

Edited by: Jerioca on 11/05/2005 08:22:52 Edited by: Jerioca on 10/05/2005 19:47:51 Nightmare Holdings was formed in Beta 6 and reformed on day 2 of retail. We've been here ever since minding our own business & stripping out systems of their entire asteroid belts, setting up POS's and taking them down again.
Of the original 8 there are just 4 of us left playing and still in NMH right now; Oosel, our current CEO, Bhent, Anzie who has recently returned to the game after a 1 year absence (wb Anz) and myself. Greyfeather came back to EVE a few months back (Hi Grey) but has gone on in a different direction to the rest of us.
We still do what we were doing 2 years ago; A lot of mining, a bit of NPC ratting, a bit of production though we've gravitated more towards mission running in recent months. We tried out being in a couple of alliances but have finally come to the conclusion that as much as we'd like to join one it's really not our scene
