Hi
I am wondering if there is a place for me to go that has a template or build that will help make the right choices when making a char.
What i mean by that is during the char creation phase i would like to know the correct mix to pick if i wanted to make a Miner or a hauler(trader) or a mission runner. Something that tells me the race, then ancerstory etc so i will come out with the best head start towards that field.
Thx ofr the help |

Somebody is still living in a very very ancient past.
Choose of character doesn't matter anymore since about 1.5 years ago (Incarna expansion).
It will only make you start in a different location and with different set up starting skills (racial frigate and racial guns) which can be cross trained in less then 8 hours. Old look Corporation recruitment thread Corporation Website |

What J'Poll said. The major choice implications are
(1) What my character will look like
(2) Where on the map he'll start (and have NPC clone stations available)
(3) What kind of rookie ship he'll get. MatrixSkye Mk2: "Remember: You consent to unconsensual PVP the moment you press the "Undock" button." |

If you really want to min/max to a degree so absurd that even the people that complain about not being able to delete skills to "clean up their skill sheets" will laugh at you... pick a Gallente race. The starting zone is near, possibly nearest of all the empires, to the sisters of eve station in Arnon, saving you a few jumps when your tutorials are done, and the rookie ship can fit two drones instead of one, which makes it substantially more powerful than most of them later in the game.
Please note that neither of these things actually matter. |

Also as a secondary consideration, factor in which factions ships you like the look of the best. All 4 have strengths and weeknesses and are rebalanced regularly, so there is never a best. You'll spend a lot more time looking at your ships than your toon, so you may as well be looking at the purdiest! ti'n siarad Cymraeg? |

Then again, start as a Caldari and you will start way closer to the most important system in the EVE universe: Jita. Old look Corporation recruitment thread Corporation Website |

Go to your local sport equpiment store and purchase a dart board and atleast one dart. Then write down each option on a post it note and stick it too the dart board. Proceed to toss darts at board untill you get the char you want. You dont really need the board but it prevent you from damaging anything els . You dont actually need the dart either you can go bang your head on the wall the first year that will be more effective. Signatured removed, CCP Phantom |

As a Caldari/Deteis you will be able to set your medical clone to 1 jump from Jita and deathclone there at any time. Admittedly this is more useful for alts. |

J'Poll wrote:Choose of character doesn't matter anymore since about 1.5 years ago (Incarna expansion). Actually Apocrypha (March 10, 2009) removed the 800k starting skill characters and fixed attributes, and replaced them with double training speed and attribute remapping.
Double training speed was later removed when Learning skills were removed in Incursion 1.0.1 (Dec 14, 2010), as +12 to all attributes is better than double training speed.
There. My OCD can take a short break now. Wait... almost:

(3) What kind of rookie ship he'll get. Your post touches upon further questions I have regarding the creation of a new character:
- I rather dig the look, clothes, and backstory of the Minmatar race (and yes I do realize these have no influence whatsoever on the game), but I much prefer Gallente ships and stations. I understand that I'll be able to pilot any ship I want rather quickly, but then I'll still be limited to my faction's stations at least for a little while, is that correct?
- About clothing, do the choices change from one station to the next? For example, can I generate a Gallente character and then later on step into a station that'll allow me to re-customize it with pieces of clothing only available at the creation of a Caldari character?

No, when you start you can go anywhere. You can even make a Minmatar character and fly to the Gallente starter system if you want (other than the minor delay of having to train Gallente Frigate and Hybrid Turrets.. what, an hour?). Most of my alts are one race and fly another simply because of looks.
To your second question, no. Once you are 'made' the clothes and looks are tied only to your race. You could buy clothes from the Nex using Auram, but nothing free is cross race. So no getting Gallente items if you made a Minmatar character, regardless of what station you dock in. November 6th, 2012 "With this in mind, it becomes quite obvious to focus on training the Destroyers and Battlecruisers skills before the change to get the maximum return effect. We highly recommend you start doing so now." --á CCP Ytterbium from:-áhttp://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=73530 |
