There is basically no way to remain competitive in this game without investing at least a few hours per night playing. You get screwed in so many ways if you so much take a weekend off. I don't want to sit on my ass all day just to fly a virtual space ship so that maybe I would actually stand a chance against fat nerds who don't go outside and 15 year olds |

You're playing wrong if you are trying to keep up with those that play more when you don't want to. |

So your proposal? sounds like yo want an arcade game.
EVE is what it is, love it or GB2WoW or whatever. CCP Gargant:-á this game requires a certain amount of simply going out there and chatting with people. You will get scammed, destroyed, cheated, trolled, and blown up but that is just a part of the essence of this game. -á |

But don't you know, EVE would get so many more subs if [insert great idea that would make EVE not be EVE anymore]!

AFK skill training pretty much removes the need to play every day to remain competitive.
On top of that you can pay for your sub in real money and remove the need to grind too! |

considering everyone's skills train in real time... doesn't matter how much you play. think we can safely say the op is simply wrong. Reading my posts is like panning for gold; most it will be useless, but occasionally you'll find a nugget of gold. |

EVE needs 2 things:
-a pop up in game when you undock that says "undocking means you consent to getting blown up"
And
-a pop up when you navigate to General Discussion saying "by coming here you consent to getting the stuffing trolled out of you, by up to and including CCP"
Then all will be right with the world.

Horribly fail way of playing.
Doing anything outside of your means tends to be a bad idea; it's no different in a video game.
And the same thing can be said of every other MMO. Not like I've never seen the exact same whine over World of Warcraft.
PS: I don't play on the weekends.

Be competitive at what?
PvP?
Industry?
Trade?
For PvP that isn't hanging around high-sec stations 23/7 then you'll need some skills and some experience. I had about 3 mill SP when I started at that but Agony Unleashed taught me the basics which helped a lot.
For a lot of the industrial stuff, even if you have the skills it eats up a lot of time. A friend had the Hulk BPO and while it was an isk-printing machine it took a lot of time to keep that machine running.
Trade is probably the best method of funding whatever you want to do with the least amount of effort. Doesn't require much in the way of in-game skills to get started, just requires some RL "skill" in terms of identifying the niche you get started in. |

Not entirely true, but yes EVE takes more effort than many other games and that is a good thing.

The only meaningful progression in EVE is social progression - and just as irl this takes talent, luck and a massive time investment.
For everything else in EVE there is PLEX. I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

The moment you let the game dictate how much time you spend playing it, you've lost it.

It's not CCP's fault that you have short attention span.
Go troll elsewhere and take your crappy Wii with you. Bumping, leave it alone. |
