Wow! How dare these people from non-English-speaking countries use their own language in local!
Freezehunter wrote:So yeah, NO THANKS, I love Eve too much to see it butchered by bots and ISK sellers and petitions from idiots that lost their accounts to ISK sellers.
So much racism and xenophobia in one post! It is a wonder that you are able to breathe, with so much to say!
CCP, any chance you could follow up this blog with a description of the "anti-addiction" techniques in use? And links to the action comics too, Day 0 advice for new players: Day 0 Advice for New Players |

Freezehunter wrote:Hating botters and gold sellers and account thieves is not racism or xenophobia, get over yourself.
Accusing all Chinese of being botters, gold sellers and account thieves is racism.

The forums are not in-game chat. In-game chat is not bound by forum rules.
I deliberately seek out non-English channels in order to entertain my fantasy that I might one day be fluent in a language other than English. I often copy/paste non-English text into a translator to try to figure out what the heck is going on around me. I enjoy the real language barrier in EVE, since it is not an artifice of the game world (like WoW's nonsense Alliance vs Horde barrier).
Freezehunter wrote:If you can't understand that, and why me and other people have a big problem with that, then it's your problem.
In that case, lets put pressure on CCP to enforce Islenska as the native language for all in game chat. Your problem with people of other cultures is entirely your problem. You created it for yourself. Day 0 advice for new players: Day 0 Advice for New Players |

Unless you mean, you are a convert and just want more truth to shine down upon your bronzed face.
Or here is another option which you are probably not allowing yourself to consider: I wish to develop an informed opinion. Part of forming an informed opinion is to be informed.
Of course I recognise that some people prefer to form uninformed opinions, but I take offence when such uninformed opinions are expressed as personal attacks. In debating circles it is widely recognised that ad hominem arguments are a form of surrender: you have no way to refute the argument so you resort to slinging mid at the person. Because you are not smart enough to do anything else, you resort to primate behaviour, the very basest of which include faeces slinging.
In Australia we are currently debating the issue of methods to reduce the damage caused to our community by gambling machines. Ideas on controlling addictions are widely discussed, and I have only heard of Chinese MMO-addiction controls in passing. So can you comprehend that there might be reasons for wanting to learn more about something other than because one is a drone of the Party?

For the record, the anti-addiction measures I am interested in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_gaming_in_China#Anti-addiction_or_fatigue_system
Which are entirely separate to anti-addiction treatments such as electric shock, sleep deprivation, chemical lobotomy or any number of other unscientific approaches to addressing the issue of MMO addiction.
