I think most will save their thanks until things materialize in-game. I personally thought highly of both the new blogs, and am quite excited to see this winter's xpac. In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has angered numerous people for many different reasons and is widely considered as a 'bad move'. |

To even publish what he did, in the tone it's in, is a big step forward for him, professionally, and hopefully personally. If he can remember these words in the months and years to come, I think this could be the single biggest turning point in Eve's direction. |

I really believe that we need to show him that we positively care about his words, because if we don't, it's all useless anyway.
Also, i'm really REALLY sure that he's honest, because he ******* knows that if he betrays us, (what i don't believe he does) ... ... he's done for good.
He's a feeling human being, in the end ... and deserves a chance and the knowledge, that we forgive him his mistakes.

I really can not acknowledge this, because demanding something feels pretty egoistic and like "i don't really care about the greater good, i only care about myself". |

First: he's not ******. Second: if he betrays us, EvE is done.

I will let the investors thank him, and I'll show my gratitude by continuing to subscribe. You should understand, he didn't do it for us the players. He did it because it was the best choice for the company which employs him. I'm not even sure how much HE did, and how much he was prodded. Think about this part a little bit...
"In the last months, weGÇÖve taken a hard look at everything, including my leadership. What I can say for now is that weGÇÖve taken action to ensure these mistakes are never repeated. We have reexamined our processes, hired experienced industry professionals for key leadership positions, reassessed our priorities, moved personnel around and, above all else, recognized our limitations." |

I also wish to extend my thanks to Hilmar for his upfront and very heartfelt apology.
When I first came to EVE Online, I was impressed by the quality of the experience and the obvious dedication you showed, and continue to show, to your product.
While some other MMO operators (which, to avoid 'calling them out', I won't name here) would take the low road and either not respond to player concerns or offer a half-hearted 'oops' that doesn't really fix anything, CCP has proven that they want EVE Online to be different. The employees, up to and including the CEO, obviously consider themselves accountable to the players, and have consistently shown their willingness to step up and take responsibility for their mistakes and missteps.
Thank you for your honesty, your integrity, and your forthright and direct communication.
Welcome back into the hearts of your players. Thank you for doing so much to restore the confidence we all share in EVE Online, and CCP.
See you in teh Internet Spaceshipz!

Looks like I posted my reply to the wrong thread, here it is again:
The blog is total damage control. Lots of folks left EVE, many others reduced the number of active accounts (myself included). Players did hit CCP where it hurts and that's the bottom line. As everyone in business knows; It's a lot less expensive to keep a current customer than it is to find a new one or to convince an former customer to give the company another try.
What happened is that people left EVE and found other things to spend their limited entertainment time on. Now they don't miss EVE at all and won't return no matter how many mea culpa's CCP issues.
CCP is trying to do the only thing they can at this point and that is to increase the mainstream appeal of EVE which will further alienate the original EVE players. Mainstream gamers won't invest years of their time (and money) into EVE though.
Giving the finger to the original EVE players was a huge and immensely costly mistake CCP made and one that may very well sink EVE. I'll keep my one account going cause I literally have years of PLEX available to me, but I don't see myself reactivating my other accounts and I also don't see myself playing this game anymore. |

When it comes to EVE, CCP has been stuck in creative and productive limbo for too long and I just find it hard to believe that they are still capable to do something good, and big, for this game. Not any more. |

As long as HIlmar and the rest of the folks at CCP remember that the wormhole lifestyle is a perfectly viable lifestyle and shouldn't suffer nerfs due to some disillusioned attempt to "push" people into null that don't want to be there regardless... this will earn my thanks. Not to be an ass but he doesn't need thanks for a blog. He sounds like he's heard the community and that's enough.
There was alot of people through the years on these forums screaming for WIS and this no doubt fueled CCP when they did finally decided to do it. And that part where he's talking about people wanting to see some kinda bipeds in the game is right too. Alot of people look at Eve say to themselves, 'Yeah, so there's your spaceship, I get it,.. is that it?' No doubt expecting to see some dudes walking around with a phaser on their belt clip or something. But that's not us, or not most of us anyway I don't think. It's just not the game we signed up for.
People don't subscribe to a game in the hopes of what it might become. They are sold on what it is right there and then. I could care less about pairing fancy skirts with space goggles. I want my POS to have be some kind of threat to the cap blob that's sieging it. I want to see as many Sansha ships out there as I do Angel. I don't want to see everything dictated by the size of a supercap blob alone anymore. And do we really need to mention engine trails again? You know? Spaceship stuff, the game I pulled my wallet out for so many years ago. |
