Very foolish move.
Taking the opportunity to dump some stock at temporary premium prices.

Guy(s) probably just bought about 50b in overpriced plex.
Best manipulation attempt ever.
Edit:
...then again, I lost 10b in my last failed manipulation, so who the **** am I to talk?

That guy or group should have bought PLEX a month ago when buy orders were around 360m but i doubt that buying them now is a stupid move you will get less profit but you will get profit. My preditcion for PLEX price around Christmas is close to 500m pu. It's simple because EVE players are floating in ISK it's too easy to make ISK even with the most boring activities not mentioning the wealth of botters or in other words players getting to rich, to fast, to easy. That is driving the PLEX price up. |

Speculation is driving up the price of PLEX right now.
500M by Xmas? Wut? There is no way. By then many accounts that had been PLEX based will go into lapse or go into direct pay.
Also around X-Mas "Star Wars The Old Republic" will be out guaranteeing many players will reduce plex accounts anyway. |

mmm, swtor
I think everyone should panic and sell their PLEX, inducing a massive crash down to 350 or so.

So much for the sandbox. CCP steps in and obliterates market manipulations by re-instituting the 13 PLEX for $200 deal. PLEX prices are dropping as a result. |

How many billions did you lose, and how does it feel? Pretty lol imo. 84,000 AUR ($420) spent on NeX store for Troll and Profit. |

Before you try to take a page out of real life oil speculator's playbook. Be aware that this is a product of a company that needs to make a profit.
Rapidly rising PLEX prices were starting to cause people running multiple accounts to think twice about another PLEX purchase. I know darn well I would not pay 440M or even 410M just to keep an alt running. I feel that 350-375 is fair and I believe that is the sweet spot for the PLEX market to stabilize at.
And CCP does as well. Any new PLEX purchases and the profit that brings would be wiped out in a general PLEX crash later on (Which happens when many people decide not to buy at the same time) This act was a necessary regulation. If you try to game the PLEX market with your billions you better be prepared to lose them when CCP steps in.
He is a tip. If you think the price of PLEX is going to raise by 20-50M within a month.. Don't try to game it or don't invest unless you need to stockpile for a rainy day. Smart money is on the items and ships that will be of use after the winter expansion and the changes that TiDI will have on large scale combat. The chances of CCP stepping in on those is lower. |

My friend, you need to learn your EVE history. Around 150,000 players in EVE came here from SWG when they rolled the NGE. SW:TOR isn't going to kill EVE but thinking it won't have an impact on EVE's already shrinking playerbase is delusional.

SW:TOR is a very different game then SWG Pre or post NGE. It's a theme park MMO with standard quest based and raid capped gameplay along with some new story telling elements. It's no sandbox

I agree... to a point.. that doesn't take away from the fact that a lot of EVE players are looking forward to it. Myself included. Like I said, dismissing it as a non item is foolish. It's not going to kill EVE but it's one more sci-fi MMO that's going to draw people away from EVE, which has already hemorhaged players in the past 6 months.
The thing a lot of folks are missing right now is that the number of active players in EVE has nosedived since May and there's a LOT of new sci-fi based MMO's on the horizon. SW:TOR may be different but it's absolutely a great game in it's own right and thinking it won't draw people's playtime away from EVE is foolish.

it will draw playtime away from eve BUT it will not draw allot of ppl forever away from eve, because its noway as deep/complicatet involving mmo like eve in long term. |

This thread is now about SW:TOR. For unknown reasons, lol.
On that note I found the melee classes to be oddly unfulfilling. The game felt very restrictive after years in Eve. Noclip walls everywhere, the constant feeling over being inside a skyboxed indoor room, no reason sense of teamwork/teamplay (didn't play above lvl15, no sense in grinding a beta...). The fully voiced quest sequences were nice, but a large drain on disk space, it also felt like it constantly broke up the flow of the gameplay though. It's like not being able to turn on instant quest text. The game will be good for a once through, but I don't think any of us really need another WoW for repeat grinding/raiding |

The irony will of course hit CCP as they see their number of concurrent users sink as people let alt accounts lapse due to the increase in prices. This will force them to introduce new PLEX to the market through new promotions or by creating an artificial price fix. |

PLEX is all about psychological price levels. 400 has been broken and 450 is next.
One thing is for sure, the market says that the 400m price level is too low, even with the plex promotion. I doubt we will see that level again unless speculators all dump at once, or tons of new/returning players fund their in-game endeavours with PLEX come the winter expansion (and this is certainly possible!).
As for my opinion, I think that every small step up in price drastically increases resistance. Simply put, people will unsub alt accounts. I have a feeling that there are a ton of players out there with extra PLEX funded alt accounts that aren't really necessary, and I expect many players to simply stop funding these accounts as PLEX rises. Of course there is an opposing effect as PLEX rises, namely that you get more bang for your buck for cashing in PLEX, but people that buy PLEX (in my view) are somwehat desperate for the isk. They want a new supercarrier, or they have a fixed $100 to spend on play money. I don't think that increased PLEX prices really drive PLEX buying as much as some would think.
My prediction for PLEX prices in 1 year? 500m, increasing at about 50m-100m per year barring any major economic changes from CCP (yeah right ) |
