Hi all,
ive been in 0,0 trying to chain rats for the best part of the last week, now while i can get the same rats to spawn again, i dont seem to be able to get them to spawn any quicker.
now im worried im using the wrong process.
what i would like is for someone who has actively ran a chain in the last week, to give me detailed instructions of how they acheived it and how quickly the spawn operated.
thanks in advance for all your help.
kris.
p.s. before ppl say "it just takes longer, be more patient" ive been sitting in the same belt for 3 hours now, with no noticeable difference

If it's still possible, it's also still considered an exploit afaik

it is possible, bearly, but the rule is, if the chain spawns more than 10 times in any given 10 minute period, then its an exploit

so how do you do it?
and how can it possibly be considered an exploit its a game mechanic

You dont. Farming a spawn is much more productive IMO. Kill all the good rats in a good bs spawn except for 1 cruiser or 1 frig, then move on to another belt. If the spawn is shiezer then kill it off. Rinse. Repeat. If you stick with it for a while then all the spawns in the system (or multiple systems for that matter) will be good ones and you can just hop along and kill kill kill.

the problem with that being that the spawns just "float away" if your not in the belt often enough.
also getting one decent bs spawn is hard enough nevermind multiple ones

Spawns that leave a belt move to another belt in the same system the vast majority of the time.
The biggest problem with this technique is getting a system with good spawns (read: Crokite and above) all to yourself. ------------------------------------------------------------------

Read your other (identical) post on Eve-I.
Its a farming guide in short.
As for chaining, if tis even possible to speed up the respawns to 1-5 minute intervals (i know i havent been able to and I'm pretty sure you are not supposed to be able to anyway), its boud tot ake hours to get started.
I prefer the farming method atm, altho if there's a way to start a reasonably fast chain (=/<5min respawn) without it taking hours to get there I'd be obliged to whomever infomrs me of it. _______________________________________________

generally it's the same keep one rat alive and shooting you and wait for the rest to respawn , but they nerfed the spawn rate way down, about 3-4 spans and hour i think on average. Better bet is to find a nice 6-7 belt system and kill of the spawns till you have only bship spawns, then kill the bships, ofcourse frig spawns suck in this aspect since you need cruiser spawns else you'll be scrambled, and unf the cruiser/bship spanws are worse then the frig/bship spawns. all triple bships spanws seem to spawn with frigs for some reason.
although to be honest i havent seen one for a while, so i think they were nerfed a bit too.

well heres my thoughts take bloods for example
I have seen a very rare spawn 3 sages, 3 arch preists and 3 truckers (but it seems only when you get a NPC mining / hauler ships do you get large BS spawns with 4-6 guarding ships) those spawns are rare
Chaining doesnt work best bet is to pick a 6-7 belt system and they respawn every 15-25 minutes i have found. Pick multiple systems - get 2 other corp members do 3 belts at a time. That way if one spots a big spawn you can all dive in and loot when done - otherwsie 2 jumps each and you move onto the next system.
Solo well scout round pick a area of about 10 systems in low sec or 0.0 space if you can bypass gatecampers. Once there just mow through if you find a pathetic spawn rap em up and move on if its Cruisers or BS and good kill and loot
Scanner probes are another option take 3-4 corp members to a large system launch some of those 12 AU probes someone with level 4 in skil takes about 6 minutes - you can then tell where the rats are at and fly in on any good spawns.

Ollobrains, you NEVER cease to amaze me.
You do NOT need scanner probes to find NPC's. Use your scanner without the probes.

ok so if chaining does work like it used to, lets talk more about farming!
im in a system with a pretty low sec -0.3 i think. it has 20+ belts all free, ive tried getting a few spawns going but have encountered the following problems,
firstly, its bloody hard getting a BS spawn in this system, really in 20 belts id expect that at least half a dozen would have decent bs spawns in them but more often that not its cruisers at 100K and it takes ages to get just one bs spawn and he tends to be a 500K spawn.
secondly, if im lucky enough to get more than one spawn going, i find that when i warp back to belt the spawn has just disappeared every so often, very frustrating when it takes so long just to find one.
any assistance would be much appreciated.
p.s. if anyone controls an UBER system and would be willing to sell a hunting pass to said system pls let me know terms here, or evemail me in game.

I'm in a -.4something system with 8 belts and the only time I see 750k rats are when I strap mining lasers to something.
I'll give the farming a ***** though and get back to you on it.

I've noticed if there is 1 bs it comes back every 20 minutes, if there is 2 like 1 bs respwans every 10 minutes.
_ _ How many pilots does it take to wire a Flux Capacitor? 3, 1 to wire it and 2 to talk about how the old one was better. |

Hmmm, that would logically lead to a triple BS spawn respawning you a new BS evey 6 mins on average.
Can't say I've noticed that tbh. But it could be true nonetheless.
As for the original poster, check this site for the true security rating of all systems in Eve. You will notice that there are not that many below -0.60, which is afaik where it starts getting moderately interesting if what you are looking for is at least bs spawns, let alone dual ones, in any reasonable quantity.
If I do npcing I keep myself limited to -0.8 to -1.0, not below, and always a system with few other players attending and at least 10 belts. Those are hard to find, and even then some systems appear to be broken. For example, I know of a -1 that has 12 belts but will only have 3 different active spawns at any time it seems. That one is nice if you've got hours of patience but not if you want to farm untill you get either high up dual BS spawns, triple ones or a commander spawn.
I'd expect areas around all -1.0's to be known and in most cases at least visited on a regular basis if not simply busy most of the day. People tend to forget however, that a -0.96 is probably already better then that -1.0 if it has 12 belts where the other has 10.
Anyway, check that site, go to a better system. Expect to be deep into 0.0 before you find one tho, so go in prepared with a hauler at a good safe, secure cans anchored and either bring lasers or station access and ammo.
edit: of course, if you can get into curse, stain, venal or fountain and hunt there you only need a system with relatively low security for that region to get the good spawns. Sovereign space > other space. _______________________________________________

Chaining is still possible, if done correctly and with a good spawn you can get a battleship respawn every 5 minutes give or take.
I would like to add that chaining a dual conquistador + usurper spawn with only 2 mortifiers is nice for your wallet, but also pretty boring.

Tips from what worked for me.
#1 This is best done as a duo
#2 Select a system that has the following: A) Alot of Belts (15+) B) O.O if you want BS's C) Has Ark or Crok or Mercrox in 90% of the belts D) You need the system free of other NPC hunters and player rats (1 belt used for mining is ok but not prefered)
#3 Kill every rat in a spawn that contains: A) Frig B) No BS
#4 Kill all but 1 cruiser all other spawns:
#5 Patrol every belt -The mind is strong and the flesh is weak, but oh the flesh... |
