Edited by: Sarkos on 15/05/2005 14:03:45 Minmatar engineers build for purpose, not style. 'Does it do what we want?' 'Yes' 'Ok, build it'.
The Burst looks like some drunk miners added life support and propultion to a mass of scrap metal, but it works. Minmatar ships are the BEST ships in the game, and at least they have some form of symetry. Of course you need to know HOW to pilot and not simply a 'click and shoot' person.
Caldari engineers obviously have a problem with any ship having any kind of symetrical look. Odd projections sticking out at random for no apperant reason. Ugh.
Gallente engineers spent to much time on the 'art' of ship looks, so had to compensate for inferior designs with massive amounts of drones.
Amarr engineers are hung up on the 'half dome', 'beak' and gold look. No one learned from the Armaggedon designers, which in my opinion is the most esteticly pretty ship in the game. The Apoc should always be flying in a loop and if turned over looks like a 'wet navy' ship. The Prophesy is a space turkey and paint a Sigil red with black dots and you have a space ladybug.
Frankly I would rather a ship do it's job well rather than look good, but hey, I'm Minmatar. :)

Nothing to do with air, thrust against the centre of the mass of the ship. Put a large thruster on the left of the space shuttle, and a small one on the right and the ship will yaw to the right. Thats why engines on current space ships are symetrical.
But anyway, this is a game. Who cares? ------

Yes. I'm not sure whether it will move round in circles for ever, but it will certainly turn slightly as the engines start.

All the ideas behind the basic ship designs are brilliant. Particularly the Caldari's. Yep in space we have no aerodynamics to worry about, so they can be as lop-sided as they wish.
In fact I hope that the Caldari Dreadnought will be an extreme exercise in lop-sided-freakydom.

I am begging the devs to pls rectify this situation immediately. This ship is the ugliest thing I have laid eyes on.
I can't bring myself to switch from my beautiful Tristan to the ugly Scythe.
Whether or not I buy the game after trial is dependant upon this MAJOR issue
Seriously, the Scythe is ugly :(

You have no sense of aesthetics.

Surely that's a good thing?
"Oh, ignore that, that's just a giant trash can with some flies swarming round it" *ten seconds later* "Oh s**t! Backup needed in belt IX-10!"

Originally by: Darius Shakor I have to agree with Capsicum on the Typhoon. It is the most battleship looking of battleships in the game to me. Big and bulky looking, with a large mouth to swallow smaller ships whole. Park it next to a scorpion and watch the pilot shrivle.
Right...
The first time I saw the Typhoon I thought it was a hauler. The next 10 times aswell. Lucky me found out the difference before I met one in combat
Seriously, it looks like a mobile trashcan - not a battleship.

Noone mentioned the Osprey? That has got to be the fugliest thing in the game. And it broke my monitor as well. When I bought my first one and undocked my monitor just broke and smoke came out. I've never bought another one after that.

Caldari ships reflect the functional mind of this race, functional and cost effective
Gilente ships are a reflection on the gilent decident all about looks and beuty ok i guess but dangerouse to the soul
Amarr once again a reflection of the amarr menicing and dangerouse tehy all look dangerouse and spear like all about donimation
Mimitar well sadly i cant think of any culteral similaritys exept there ships are primative to look at like the culture and sometimes mistaken for a pice of space debree

Who cares what it looks like. Toss 3x Miner II's in there and watch the ore pile up. The Scythe mines like a Banshee on speed, especially once you hit Cruiser V.
