Not neccessarily, if you wish to permarun the AB, that means it'll take less cap due to longer cycles. If your intention is to pulse it only, it may be a negative effect of course. |

Not exactly a negative effect - but it does now run counter to the skill it used to mimic. |

I would love CCP in a massive twist to make it an amazing implant! |

I'd like to see it reduce Afterburner duration by 10%, without a reduction in capacitor cost. Sure, down the road a ways we can make it cut the cap cost by 10% also, but I just want to see how much its popularity changes without that, and how much it changes with that. I have an inkling that its popularity will skyrocket with the first update, while the second update will be received with not so much as a "meh". -á"The Mittani: Hated By Badposters i'm strangely comfortable with it" -Mittens |

What is the benefit in reducing its cycle time? Doesn't that just make it use more cap? |

this basically. If really bored in eft you wlll find the leap from long running cap to cap stable can be just a few % difference. depedning on prop mod chosen...mix zor with a lower activation prop mod and you could be in the zone for cap stable.
Granted the difference between a ship that runs for 27 minutes and is cap stable is academic at that point (not cleaning up rats to make burst tank work in 28 minutes you are doing someting wrong most likely) . But if it may matter to some. |

The real use of these didn't have anything to do with cap stability, but overheat cycles. The heat damage stat is applied to module HP for each cycle, so extending the length of cycles by 10% was a direct boost to overall time spent running a hot AB. Same reason why engine thermal shielding rigs were useful.
One rig and an implant giving 30% boost to OH time on your prop mod was extremely useful, mainly because the post-skill cycle times were quite long and good for multiplying.
I'd say this implant (along with thermal shielding) is now vestigial. Whether this is an intentional nerf to AB meta or not, or simply a good-hearted attempt to help dual-prop management with this side effect is not for me to know.
In this case, I'd glady refund those SP... |
