Sorry posting as an alt for obvious reasons.
I am currently discussing with my corpmates on the best way to "chain up" the belts. They are of the opinion that a spawn of say
3x frigs 2x cruisers 2x Battlecruisers
That such a spawn needs to be reduced by only the largest ship in the spawn and as a result eventually it will move "up" the chain to something such as.
3X frigs 2x cruisers 2x crappy battleship
so on and so forth.
I have not seen direct evidence of this and my personal view that if the spawn is crap it will never get "better" unless you remove all ships and chain the random good spawns.
I understand this has changed various times in the past few years. What is now the accepted correct way of doing things and is there any truth to this "spawns growing better" thing they believe in?
Any recent guides? |

I recall it's actuall just about killing the largest ships in an ideal setup, which generates a respawn with the same setup.
So basically you kill the BS's in the following comp: 1xFrig 2xCruiser 2xBS
And that gives you a respawn of the same composition which lets you re-kill BS's all the time instead of sometimes having a comp switch to just having a single BS, and two BC's or three Cruisers.
And yes, if its a complete crappy comp, just kill them all and get a respawn of a new comp. |

So just to be clear.
In a spawn of
2x frig 2x cruiser
Destroying the 2x cruisers will yield same spawn of cruisers until downtime?
Everyone please share your experiences as well. More data is better. |

Yes, it should re-spawn until the group is completely destroyed. Which.. could also be by someone else's hand of course, so its hard to track. |

Bascially if you get 2x frigs 2x bs kill the bs's and the next spawn should eb a couple more bs's
If you get just frigs/cruisers or all cruisers kill them all and wait for the next spawn. God Said "Come Forth and receive eternal life!"-á I came second and won a toaster. |

Eh, its not really a total respawn is it? In other words the ships you don't kill respawn and the ships you let live stay there.

Correct.
My rule of thumb is: if the total spawn is worth > 2m, chain the battleships (kill the BSes, let everything else live). If it's < 2m, kill it all. Some people use 1.5m, some 3m, it's your preference. |

Note that to get an Officer spawn, you have to clear out everything in every belt in the system. The more belts, the higher the chance. (No guarantees here, that is only what I heard....). |

Yes, this is a good point. Faction spawns are the same.
Pretty much you get a choice, regular income from repeated spawns of the same type, or possibly having very nice drops, but having more low-value spawns. It depends on the person and how you're going about ratting to determine which method is better for your situation. |

If you are looking for an Commander spawn / Officer , kill everything over and over. Note Officers only spawn in belts in certain regions, and at less than 0.0 sec status. While Syndicate is Serpentis, it will not spawn an Officer, only commanders, the other factions have similar regions.
If you are looking to have fat bounty rats, kill everything but 1 frig. Only time you should ignore this is if they are elite frigs, getting tackled in a belt is a sure fire way to get popped.
Tell others you are chaining, number of times I've come back from being afk for a couple minutes to find someone complaining there's only a couple frigs and they've killed them so something else will respawn. :( |

Can you go into detal about your fat bounty rats? Do you mean even if there are no high bounty spawns you reduce everything to 1 ship rather than kill the entire spawn?
And isn't putting craft into armor the universal sign you are chaining?
Thanks for the info on the officer spawns btw.
Sorry to ask for more experiences y'all. I am just trying to show that others use my method. So please keep posting! |

Kill everything till you have some rats of decent bounty, for me in the systems I rat, its 1.1mil and 1.2mil most of the time. Only time you might as well pop them is when they spawn with no frigs, which is very rare, but I've come across it.
I'll usually keep chaining till a pair 900,000 rats appear, and then leave them, if I get a pair of 1.1/1.2 spawn in another belt, I'll come back and pop the 900,000 rats and cycle them hoping to get better. You're better off with a pair of 900,000 and chaining them than killing them and ending up with rats of lesser value spawning.
Also for officers outside of the "special regions" you'll have to find DED sites, where they are scripted to spawn. |

Good info thanks!
Again keep it coming folks! Describe what you do and what works for you. I want to show them as many people doing this as possible. |

I was under the impression that:
If; there are BS spawns and others there, kill the BSs If; there are no BSs there and there are BS wrecks, don't touch anything If; there are no BSs and no BS wrecks, kill everything
But, if you are rogue drone lands, you should be doing an anom anyway. Above applies to rogue drone belts btw |

If i where to start ratting, I would experiment with everything that will not end up on the forums, because the people that have figured it out, or had a friend teach them, will not teach you.
I would try things like, leaving noob ship wrecks, or even entire ships abandoned in space... containers with refined minerals... I mean, just do a whole bunch of oddball stuff that sorta makes sense and see how the game responds. While of course killing off the rats different and sadistic way each time.
try to find patterns, im sure dev's have a ton of interesting stuff implemented for you to discover on your own. |
