Basic nav warp in skill at 5 lets you warp in at 7.5 km skill level 3
Advanced nav warp in skill at 5 lets you warp in at 1km skill level 6
that way if you really need to warp in close then you will learn the skill to a good level. This of course can be negated with a mobile disruptor as this disrupts your ships warp drive directly so is not skill based. Also another idea is to use a module to make your warp more accurate. Well that was my idea into the bookamrk debate feel free to analize this and come up with any improvements.

that wouldnt replace bookmarks, only instajumps. Though it would be very nice if they would do that.

Why is it that only noobs deserve to fail to avoid combat instead of older, richer people? Your logic makes sense from an RP perspective, but from a game development perspective it makes less sense.
What would happen if we just make people totally invulnerable at gates: 1)They will become smack central 2)More importantly, we will have to find alternatives for random conflict or the game will suffer in some traditional areas.
Better solution: 1)Shrink turret range by 2/3s. Long range snipers now operate at 50-100km instead of 150-300. Battleship-sized sniping turrets can only hit battleships. Pulses and Blasters can still make holocaust of cruisers, but only at medium to close range. Make identical changes to cruiser-snipers regarding frigates. Consider extending turret ranges on frigs and cruisers, or just frigs. 2)Increase warp in range to 50, 100, 200 km or so. Disable all instas within the gate grid. Make frigates go much much faster like 10km/s at the high end, and cruisers and industrials up to 1km/s normal and 2km/s at the high end. Leave the Battleships at about their same speed. For traders, make runs more lucrative given the increased travel time. 3)100km frigate sized warp disruptors. 200 km cruiser sized warp disruptors.
If gates must be the only field of combat, they should be a high quality arena. These kinds of changes will allow for maneuvers and will allow for convoys to exist. It won't give blobs a reason to exist, but it will make their conflicts somewhat more interesting.
Skill-based solutions to problems always fail in some regard.

Sounds like a cool Idea to me. Its all part of the game as a noob you always have to lose a few ships we all have at one time or anouther.

Too complex. The system ain't broke, so why fix it? Using insta-BMs requires more manual labor in the process of jumping and traveling for the player.... the trade-off is no need to worry about most gate campers. Meanwhile just using autopilot is easy & low-effort, but the trade-off is being vulnerable to gate-campers in 0.4 - 0.0 systems (or customs if you're doing contraband).
Balance, trade-off. Perfect. Not broken, in no need of a fix. Quit whining that you're too lazy to find other ways to kill people.

by the way im a miner who flys a indy a lot so im not a pirat trying to make life easier so stop flaming and post constructivly pls

Dont see a problem with this.. gankers can still get people on the other side of the gate... yanno you hvae to accelerate to warp.. indy's can easily be cought by Cepters/frigs and hell even Bs's

Exactly this is a good idea because i made it it solves the travel time prob while still giving gate campers an opertunity to succeed
