Hey guys
I played this game during the last summer around 1,5 months and then gave break till now. During my time I trained for mining with Retriever and Naga ship for combat missions. My Naga has 425mm Prototype Gauss Guns. But I couldn't advanced to l4 security missions because of lack of tanking capability.
Now I am excited to return with new Retribution patch/expansion (whatever you wanna call it). I am interested to do 2 things. I am looking to do factional warfare but I think taking Naga to pvp is a bit risky in terms of cost. I never pvp'ed before, I have 0 experience. I only have around 30m isk. So what other ship do you advice for pvp that is effective and cheaper and related for my skills?
And also I want to do missions for l4 every now and then to fund my operations. I have salvaging with noctis. But which ship to take to l4 missions?
I am looking forward to your advices. Thanks in advance. |

During my time I trained for 2.5m skill points including mining with Retriever and Naga ship for combat missions and gunnery skills. My Naga has 425mm Prototype Gauss Guns. But I couldn't advanced to l4 security missions because of lack of tanking capability.

L4 missions are meant for Battleships. Unfortunately the turret battleship of the Caldari, the Rokh is said to be not very effective in PvE. Considering You have just 2.5 mill. skill points get a destroyer or cruiser for level 2 missions and a nice frigate for PvP (you will loose several of them quickly - PvP means it's SURE you loose ships). Since the Frigate rebalance, several Caldari frigates are said to be good turret ships.
PS: The Naga is a very good ship for sniping fleets. But unless you have a reliable way to replace it regularly, it's too expensive for you. Also note that I said "fleet".
PPS: I just realize that You are Gallente (Naga, ts.ts - the Talos is soooo much prettier). You cant go wrong with an Incursus in PvP, nor with a Vexor in missions, but You really need to develop your skills first. Retriever, Battlecruiser and 2.5 mill SP means you have the bare minimum everywhere and almost no core skills aka "You wont be good at anything". |

You might want to take a look at the Merlin frigate for PvP. In faction warfare there are limitations to what ship sizes can access the capture points. Frigates can access all of them while for example cruisers are not allowed in novice / small points. Look up some generic PvP fit for Merlin from battleclinic, or ask your in-game buddies, and go have a blast. |

Thanks for advices. I will definitely look into frigates for pvp. I am currently digging Minmatar frigates looks so I think I will train for those.
Also do I get podded and lose implants in factional warfare if i die? And is it ok to go in solo and have some satisfaction to these events? |

And yes, it's possible to go solo and have some satisfaction but it's recommended to look for a FW related corporation. There should be several around who are willing to take new players in, as long as you're willing to learn.
About minmatar frigates, Slasher is pretty good along with the famous Rifter. That is of course if you want to fly turret ships. Breacher is a rocket / missile minnie frigate. |
