Is it possible to control more than 1 ship - if I get a new ship I have to leave the old one where I bought the new one - is it possible to bring this back to your home base? or control it remotely?

Currently no, however in most stations you can buy Shuttles which should cost 10,000 isk or less. A cheep way to fly back to your other ship and fly that back to your base. You can also put the shuttle back up for sale and it will normally sell fairly quickly depending on location.
Caution: Shuttles cost 10,000isk anything more is over priced and you will sometimes find some at terribly high prices in a attempt to scam you.

Its amazing how your mind focuses on the nearest available shuttle and completely ignores the number of 0's on the price tag....
Oh look ive bought a shuttle for 100,000 ISK.. it better come with power steering and Quafe cup holder compared to the 10,000 ISK version :D

Heh, thats nothing I bought a 13m ISK shuttle but i dont normally like to talk about that...

I think this may some sort of sploit, but its one that everyone knows about, reasoning would be that if it was wrong it would have been removed. As it has not im guessing that its not a exploit.

Best way i have found to move around (Also free) is to do fly around empire in my Pod. Thing is you cant get into your pod in station right?.. Well kinda.
When you are approaching the station to dock wait untill it pops up the 'Docking request has been accepted, your ship will be towed into station' Message then eject from your ship. You wont actualy eject into space and you will dock as normal, however when you load into station there you are in a pod free to travel sans Ship.

This trick still works, you just have to practice it a little.
Warning: Pods are very easy targets for anyone with an itchy trigger finger. It is not adviced that you spend any time in a Pod if you can help it.
Hint: If you dock your pod to any station that does not have one of your ships in it, you will get a free newbie ship. Not great, but it tends to be faster then a pod and has some shields and armor. ;)
