i play a minmatar physicist.. i am brand new in the game, but wanted to steer my character in that direction for researching and being a scientist-type (as opposed to say a pirate-hunter)
i was wondering about opinions for skills / things that i may do in game that would help this out.
i have Cybernetics / Rank 3 / SP: 750 of 4243 Research / Rank 1 / SP: 1415 of 8000 Science / Rank 1 / SP: 8000 of 45255 and was wondering what direction to go in from here that would allow me to create things later in the game.
thank you for any input. REVERSE CONDITIONING: Putting saliva into a dog's mouth in an attempt to make a bell ring. |

Others will have much better advice than I about the actual skills you need.
I just wanted to make sure you have invested in Intelligence and Memory as well as learning from the get go. Makes your life alot easier...

yes, i have started getting analytical mind (now at 4) and instant recall (soon to be 3)
should i start on research 3 now? or would i be better off going for things in Engineering / Science
thanks REVERSE CONDITIONING: Putting saliva into a dog's mouth in an attempt to make a bell ring. |

If you really want to be a scientist, then get start your character with max attributes in Int and second in mem. Then the skills you want to get level 5 in are:
(not in order)
Analytical Mind cybernetics Instant Recall Learning Logic Eidetic Memory Laboratory Operation Metallurgy Research Research Project Management Science
Then add in what ever science skill you want to research...
That is a pure scientist.

Unfortunatly being a science char is a little limited right now might be a better idea for you to broaden into a Science/Industrialist as these two classes tend to be very closly linked in Eve. and the combination can be a very filling occupation.
As far as what to train, you might want to start out with training up some ship command skills, get into a nice cruiser at least before you start training for the sciences, This doesn't take too long in really and will give you a lot of freedom in what you will be capable while training up for the sciences.
The only thing to realize is that researching/industrial skills are mainly sort of a fire and forget type of skill, you uses them to start a build, refine something, or research a blueprint then go off and do something else while thats working on in a station, so you won't be using them every second of everyday like some of your other skills, so don't be afraid to generalize a little now and then

Uuuuuuh? Train those to level 5? Ugh, don't fool new people into thinking they have to or that there is some sort of gain from doing so.

For a straight science character ( not a main, cause it doesn't leave anything to play with ) the turn around time for those 2 lvl 5s is a LOT faster then the turn around time for all of em at lvl 5. So there is a gain. If you continue training up the char, if you just want 5 research projects going, then you're right there's no point. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |
