Are ogres still the best drone to use for killing NPC frigates? Or should I be using hammerheads instead? Been a long time since I've played.

i tend to use all 4 types, and if I have more drone space, then fill it with medium drones of different types ____ When flying by Concord Customs Commander's Dominix I distinctly heard him saying "... world domination..." |

I use ogres with a webber - good for even elite frigates and rogue drones

an interceptor doing over 3km/s can easily avoid even light drones. As i proved last night

medium drones are best imho for npc frigates, but honestly it isnt very fast kill on npc ceptors, just pick the drone with dmg that npcs you fight have lower resistances, for example explosive on angels, thermal or em for sanshas, bloods, amarr and so on, you must pick drones carefully for each mission

I use drones as decoy mostly, load up as many small ones as I can. Once your drones are attacking one of the NPC's the other npc's start attack your drones as well. Rather your drones than you right? Small drones are very fast and agile, hard to hit, and cheap to replace.

I usually just use 2 x acolytes, and then rest Ogres. The acolytes then arrives first, and take all the enemy fire (where the npc usually dont even get a single hit on the acolyte drones)... Then the Ogres arrive at the npc a little later, and will remain untouched meanwhile slaughtering the npc.
Deff not the drone setup with most damage (since i used 2 drones as light) but you wont have to replace drones as much.. ----------

I used to do that, but don't bother when doing a mission with someone else because of what happened once. I was in a ferox in a gurista extravaganza, a mate in a kessie willing to try some missions. A small drone messed up and attacked a group, then got blown up. The group then proceeded to attack the kessie instead of me, and i didn't notice it until it was to late. Needless to say, the kessie didn't last more than a few seconds.
But yes, light drones are nice decoys...
