Edited by: Khatred on 24/05/2005 19:47:44 Fact is, we didn't expect a sniper.
I was earlier in Hagilur to claim the bpo, my corpmates went there in ravens to keep an eye on the Hagilur - Bei stargate because I saw Ginger on local and I decided not to move the bpo by myself. When they arrived at the gate, Ginger was not there so they give a go to the shuttle with the bpo. When the shuttle was in warp, Ginger arrived there at aprox. 180km and start sniping one of the ravens. They start moving towards him because all ravens were close range torp fitted but when the shuttle arrived at the gate he decided to snipe it.
The fault is mine because when I last encountered Ginger he was in a smartbombing apoc or geddon so I told them that it's safe to jump in the shuttle since no smartbombing ships would dare approach 4 ravens just to kill a shuttle.
And Ginger Magician, unfortunatly you are an IRL noob. If there is one thing that I am bothered about then it's the fact that we lost the bpo to a 14 years old kid that has to say "f**k" every 3 words. I don't care what sniping fitting you have, what smartbombing tactics you apply or how many wcs you carry or how many people call you a griefer. After seeing your language I am truly very sorry about you.

You're still a n00b Ginger Magician. If you weren't, you would brag about the stuff you loot, and thus made money on, not the stuff you destroy.

Gate to gate you wont get killed unless there is a herd of snipers.
And what can we say about the Ginger whinger that hasn't already been said?

With current BPO lottery system, I bet that was THE other BPO out there for large rep II. Basicly Ginger hurted whole server because Rep II:s will cost more than Cap II's.
Nice job, asshat! _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

Alright, Congrats to ginger on messing up the cost of large armor Rep IIs for every armor tanker out there. You killed the ship, you did what you do in your profession, good for you. I don't care about the guy who lost his ship, I don't care that you think you're some uber 1337 sniper. I just care that the server lost a tech II BPO. Like an earlier poster said, I'm not looking foward to pricing similar to cap recharger IIs. I hope when a tech II BPO gets destroyed the server compensates by putting another one back into the lottery.
GJ On the kill, but that's not going to stop me from hating you and the idiot who didn't carry the BPO in a covert ops or an interceptor with nanos and a cloak. ----------------------------------------------

Honestly if you were gonna move a BPO like that you should have contracted a merc corp for a day to secure the entire area. Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but still, such a cash cow would surely be worth the cost of protection to get her into .5+ safely.
My condolences.

First i wanna say that i couldn't care less about the BPO owner since moving the BPO in an Inty + Nanos plus Instas would be perfectly save. Sorry but you deserve no better than get your sorry ass blown outta the sky if you carry such a BPO like that.
@The killer: Sniping at gates: You probably feel very good eh? Probably have only WCS in low slots i guess. Killing that BPO owner is ok since it's your profession but the way you do it is just lame. The result of this action is not nice either since the item will stay overpriced now wich is not goodfor all of us of course but you couldn'tcare less i guess and i can understand that.

I'm not sure why everyone's coming down so hard on Ginger here.
She had set up to snipe (which I hate that it's 1337 right now to do that, but that's the way the nerfbat swings) as her method of piracy.
The corp moving the BPO scouted her out of the system first, then began operations.
Ginger arrived and sniped the BS's at the gates, obviously not expecting a shuttle and probably thinking this was a fleet come for to carry her home.
Commander defense fleet ordered the Ravens to move in closer, a basic-but-wise tactical maneuver considering the pirate was obviously set up for range.
Now here, and this is what I don't get, was the mistake.
Even though the battle was going on, and seeing that smartbombs were not fitted (sniper, much) an abort order was not given to the transport shuttle, which was transporting something that should have been in the cargo hold of a shield-tanked Raven so that it blended in with the defense fleet.
Ginger notices that in the heat of a battle, a shuttle tries to scoot through. Now, this, to me, would scream, "IMPORTANT CRAP ON THE SHUTTLE! THERE BE ISK IN THEM THAR HULLS!"
So Ginger, obviously thinking the same thing, pops the shuttle. Of course, she didn't lose any ISK because she was using beams, but there was obviously lost profit potential because sadly, the BPO was destroyed. Now, none of the after-battle with the Ravens was discussed but I'm guessing Ginger made a tactical withdrawal. Not sure, but it really doesn't matter.
Even if she swears like a sailor, as many a drunken pirate is wont to do, she saw an opportunity and took it. Sending that shuttle through painted a huge bullseye on it, you can't be angry that someone took the shot.
The pirate did what the pirate usually does. It's not her place to descriminate.
The defenders did what they usually do. A good job I'd say they likely did, too.
The obvious error was on the part of a) the person giving the order to put a 10 bil BPO that will permanently affect market pricing for a specific module on a paper-thin shuttle and b) the damn fool that followed an order to fly a shuttle with a 10 bil BPO on board right into a gate battle.
I would have gunned down the shuttle, too. You made it an obvious primary target. Next time, use a Ferox with a large shield extender and EM/Therm hardeners, and you'll get through that sort of situation easily. "You Griefer!!!" = "You Doodyhead!!!" |

Like I said, we missed the "sniping scenario", with 4 ravens guarding the stargate we thought it won't matter what ship will carry the bpo.

And I don't dislike Ginger for destroying the bpo, he's a pirated, he is supposed to destroy things, it's just that he behaves stupid.

There's part of the problem, methinks. Those Ravens were carrying torps. If a frigate had been involved in this, it would have MWD'd straight past the Ravens and popped the shuttle, and the torps wouldn't catch it. The same thing would also have happened if there was more than one pirate involved.
Again, your choice of transport was your flaw, as well as the tactics at the time, but don't make the mistake of trusting the power of the almighty Raven in all situations. Most of us ebil know this: I damn near outlasted a sentry-tanking Raven from Corp1 once in a shield-tanked Ferox, and with my skills now, I would have won. "You Griefer!!!" = "You Doodyhead!!!" |
