As a loyal Amarrian, I here by petition the Emperor to declare war on the blood raiders. They have been a pain in our side for far too long, and now with the threat they pose to national security, I propose the empire declare an all out state of war against them. With the might of our Imperial fleet, we could crush the blood raiders in a matter of days, ensure that our slaves won't rise up if cured, and make Amarrian space safer for all. I urge all Amarrians to take up the cause, and demand that our Emperor take the proper course of action to ensure our safety. Long live the Empire!

The days of the Amarr using Vitoc are numbered, and those hoping to still use the foul chemical caught between a rock and a hard place. The Amarr will either see the cure the Ullia Hnolku possesses a device of blackmail from the Blood Raiders, or possibly used as leverage upon the Amarr Empire to rescue Eckarine Mitumi-Hnolku, while she still lives.
It would behoove all able-bodied warriors of the Amarr Empire to seek out Eckarine Mitumi-Hnolku and return her to Ullia Hnolku before your way of life collapses.

Personally? No, I'd find it a conflict of interest. I would prefer the task delegated to another.
Fortunatly we don't get many Caldari in the area so this is not a problem.

Quote: You'ave nothin'a be scared of! Amarr'as strong 'EFORE Vitoc, an'it'll be strong after it's gone, see?
Kardinaal shaked his head at listening to the message read aloud by his slave. Minmatar are so hard to understand...
"It's true what you say," he dictates to his comms slave. "We were strong before, and will remain to be strong even without Vitoc. Then again that is what saddens me."
A short silence fell as he started to walk up and down the room. He finally stopped at the window looking out on the stars, arms held loosely behind his back.
With a sigh he continued to dictate. "Even if this alleged cure for vitoc really works, and even with the continuing research adjusting the formula every few months, it will not free our slaves."
Another silence fell as he watched a Punisher fly by. Such a beautiful ship... Turning around, he continued in a more resolute tone.
"Have you ever been to the Khanid lands? Have you ever seen the ads for their slave control techniques and devices they have there?", He asked. "Have you ever thougt about the consequenses of not having Vitoc keep the slaves under control? with sadness in my heart, I am taking the necessary precautions. I'm hiring more guards, and equiping them with chock weapons and firearms."
"You are right, Minmatar.", he concluded. A hint of sadness reappeared in his voice. "Damn, you are right..."
He asked his slave to reread the text he had just finished dictating. "All right", he said. "Good job. I do not need any further assistance. You may go now."
As the slave scribe left, Kardinaal sat down in his comfy chair, hands supporting his head. "Some quiet meditation would do me good", he thought.
As he walked into the small chappel of his modest estate, he was not surprised to see his scribe and an other slave, praying that the cure doesn't work...

If you don't like the transcranials, I'd be happy to offer some of my specially trained slaver hounds for a decent price. I don't use vitoc as it is, but my slaver hounds from the Sarum Prime breeding and training institutions are the best in the galaxy. But then again I'm biased.

Vitoc is a tool, its really not even necessary. All Vitoc does is destroy escaped slaves... it doesnt instantly free slaves, for it is not like we simply leave slaves free chained only by Vitoc.
Destruction of Vitoc will mean little more than a change of methodology at best. All it will do is require that we come up with a new version of the virus, or that we change to more traditional methods, or less traditional methods such as the transcranials, to deal with the control of slaves.
So even if the cure becomes wide enoughspread that slaves who are freed can be cured... it is not like the slaves will somehow instantly be freed and the empire will not suddenly collapse.
To say such is to make a statement not understanding how Vitoc, or the Amarr Empire works in the slightest.

The treatment for the virus makes the infected slave compliant. Relatively cheap control mechanism for rowdy slaves.

Eh, no. This antidote completely removes traces of virusses, if I read the released material correctly. No matter what we come up with, if it's foreign to the body, it'll be removed by this insorzapine bisulfide stuff.

You don't actually understand this entire slavery thing, do you?
There are BILLIONS of slaves at work. Of these, an untold number are being put to work via the Vitoc method. This makes them compliant and so they do what their owners tell them. Now, if a large portion of the slaves are infected, it means that there are very few overseers needed, and as such, there aren't lot of them.
Take the Imperial Mines, for example. Millions of slaves work there. If they suddenly become free of the virus, they will no longer be under the influence of vitoc, no longer compliant and they will CRUSH the mines' overseers and controllers through sheer numbers.
Originally by: Gaven Lok'ri To say such is to make a statement not understanding how Vitoc, or the Amarr Empire works in the slightest.
It seems you're the one not understanding how it works.

Rather then arming your guards and risking potential loss of life in your forces, or loss of slave assets, you should start implantation of control mechanisms. Works better, trust me.

No Gaven does not understand. You should study the Vitoc history, teh substance that you no doubt use to keep your own slaves compliant.
They are chemical chains better than any physical ones you care to mention. And far more cruel as well.
Have you ever seen anyone die from Vitoc? -

If that was to me, I don't own slaves, payed workers do a better job. Also, yes I've seen people die from vitoc, it was funny

Edited by: Gaven Lok''ri on 27/05/2005 15:28:38 Edited by: Gaven Lok''ri on 27/05/2005 15:18:19 Hmm so tell me, what is the effect a million unarmed slaves will have upon a single pulse laser hovertank?
Let alone a battalion of them.
This means little. And you of course assume that this Doctor's work actually can do all he claims... which seems incredibly unlikely to me.
A mutagen that can tell the difference between foriegn and non-foriegn matter? Bull****.
The side effects from such a process... would destroy the person as surely as Vitoc withdrawal would. The person's immune system would be shot if he survived, and hell a common cold would kill him if the 'cure' did not.
So... as this cure would probably kill more than Vitoc kills, well Im not too scared.
No wonder the Caldari were so scared of it getting out early.

a. Get word of this development. b. Make it to Pator in time for the cure to be given.
And for the republic how will they afford to
a. House the slaves b. Feed the slaves c. Create a billion parts of this mutagen.
Im not exactly worried...
In fact It would almost be a good thing for the empire, the PR disaster for the Republic as a million cheap slaves die from failure to reach this false freedom, would be almost... amusing.

I didnt realise you were a fully qualified bio-chemist Gaven.. Spare me your guesses and conjectures. You Amarrians seem to be full of them in this hour of your fear.
And battalions of slavers cannot do anything, no, of course they cant. That's why our rebellion failed so monsterously.
Ah wait, no it didnt.

You should read that again, my good minmatar fool.
That was assuming all of those slaves get free. You dont have the production capacity to feed clothe and house a tripling of your population.
Let alone make enough cure fast enough for this supposed uprising everyone seems to be so scared of to result in anything but death on Pator's doorstep.
So even if you win... you lose.

Indeed. I would also point out that even at the hieght of your last rebellion the bulk of the Empire was not even threatened... its not like the populations of minmatar in those areas have changed all that much.
So while destroying Vitoc would be a blow, it would hardly be the instant rebellion you people seem to think it would.
