If Jove space was opened "ASAP", what makes you think we'd let you enter, ollobrains?

I think it's cool to have Jove there. But would be cool to open the space but [5] or someone would take it ASAP. And also the Jove storyline leads to these closing so why not have it that way :) ----------

Why would such a seceretive society such as the Jovians freely open their space to us anyways? They have no reason to let us into their domain.

I think it would be nice to open up Jove space as a war scenario.
Eve vs the Jove.
They're supposed to be technologically far superior to the rest of Eve, so I'd be happy to see them expanding their empire into the rest of known space. This would force the playerbase to beat them back, with the rewards for doing so being Tech 3or4 items and ships.

You know, ollobrains does deserve credit for picking the one eve name in the whole game that makes me laugh as I type it.

As some other players have pointed out, there are hundreds of systems in EVE that are rarely visited. Once the novelty of traveling through Jovian space wore off, the same would happen there. As long as Jovian ships, tech and characters are under development and unavailable to the player base, there is little reason to open the space up. They do serve a purpose however. Fiction, mystery and a goal are just a few things that the Jovians provide.
There are a number of things that need to occur before all things Jovian are available. Their section of the universe needs to be populated. The number of Jovian ships and modules need to be increased and balanced. A balanced and equitable system for Jovian PCs needs to be developed. Backstory and events need to be written for their introduction. Lots of planning, development, coding and testing need to occur.
If I were a betting man, I would guess the introduction of Jovian space will be an expansion akin to Exodus. As Kali is the next planned expansion, I think that the Jovians are bit out in the future.

As Kieron mentioned, many 0.0 Systems are sparsely populated - would it make sense to open up even more of 0.0/Jovian space, just increasing the number of "empty" systems? I believe the challenge lies within encouraging more players to venture outside of empire - this is not necessarily achieved by opening up new regions. The myth and mysteriousness of Jovian Space/Technology/Background stories etc... will most likely be something used in the future of EVE-Online.

I'm not an ollobrains fanboy by any means, but at least be cordial to the guy...
He wants to see Jovian space. Yes, it borders on obsession, but it's part of the game that has sparked his interest, just like there is a part of Eve which you love which makes you want to play every day.
Some of you love PVP, some love mining, some love agents, some live for forum whoring.
The point is that he just wants to see what he is really into move along, and grow into fruition.
Yes, all of us know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jovians and their space are in the far, far, far future of Eve.
Let the guy have his interests, perhaps if less people reaffirmed the fact that Jovian space is not going to be available until the year 2045, CCP would have some motivation to put some resources into developing it.

The lads have told ya there is nothing good there & it wouldnt need more server as its all ready there & in use by devs & gms.
I also cant see it addnig anything worthwile to the game its better as a carrot, everyone would switch to jove kit & the 4 races of mixed kit would be worthless, thats if jove did have content to offer.

Thats a bit strong man them things are well routh
GM's and Dev's play around on either the test server or the dev server, not on TQ, unless they're doing an event, and even then it's mostly event vols. Sometimes TomB or some other dev/gm play around on TQ, but then it's not in jove space, cause theres nothing to play around with there.
As for Jove space, alot of people went there during beta, all you had to do was set your clone to a station in jove and get podded, though as enslaver stated there wasen't anything there.
Oh btw SinBin, stop posting about stuff you know nothing about, it's annoying seeing such stupidity :/ |

ollo, no thanks are necessary. Believe me, I want to have my own Jovian character and ship almost as bad as the next person. Back in the beta 3 days, all I wanted to do was play a Jovian once I read the race descriptions. I'm going to have to wait my time just like everyone else. It's those lucky buggers in the event team that get to play with the Jovians every once in a while.
Just don't get disheartened, they will come. Then your patience will be rewarded.

To everyone out there who has a tendency to read what they want, and not what it actually says, please note that this quote by kieron does not mean Jove will be part of Kali, it also does not mean the expansion after Kali will contain Joves.
I just felt I had to add that..

I think they SHOULD open a route into Jove space. ..But as soon as you jump in you're instaganked by a fleet of 20 Jove battleships. You'd get a 1/2 second look at one of them just before you wake up in a clone bay. (it's what any alliance would do to keep you out of their space)

When they finally do open it up, you should need to purchase a diplomatic pass to enter. (they ARE the 5th empire) These should be HUGELY expensive and unavaliable to anyone with less than a +5 security rating.
Of course all the PVP/pirates would scream about that, but if they US government won't let in criminals and terrorists, why would the Jovians? The Jovians are very powerful xenophobes. Why would they let in anyone but the most law abiding citizens?
This would allow a few traders the ability to enter their space and bring out some of their technology as long as they behave themselves and a high security rating would actually be good for something. Of course the access points would be in 0.0 space so a trader would require a fleet to get him past the inevitable gate camps. And Jove tech should NEVER survive ship destruction so only a moron would destroy a ship coming OUT of Jovian space. Scramble and web him, scan him, try to make a deal, but if you kill the ship you get nothing.

I TOTALLY support this idea, open up Jove space but make them like an Uber NPC alliance, if you're utterly incredible you might survive long enough to enter warp once.
Things to think about in the mean time:
Jove space requires: jovian ships, jovian weapons (new class of turret? omfgdr00l!), jovian race as PCs (so cool!), player built stargates, plyaer built stargates, and player built stargates (I'm quivering with excitement just thinking about it).

the reason 0.0 is empty is because ALL!!! the choke points are ALWAYS camped... more 0.0 space for the people who cant get into the already excisting 0.0 space it would be great for them ... end of ... plus it would give the bigger alliances something "new" to fight for

ok one problem, well ok several. Jove is not part of concord,if you look at your standings many pirets have a damn good standing with them, well i do anyways.
if you really pay attention they are opening jove up in ways through story missions an such giving ((Small)) clues for you to play with.
even if jove opens up ever. as i remmember reading several months back. they're tech is 10 times better then what were playing with right now. how the heck do you plan to compencate for the firepower they can bring down on anyone of us at anytime, ccp is saving us the humulation of being schooled so bad. if you really want to go to jove they should open only one system and have 15 of every type of ship there and give ya a minor chance to move then suddenly you wake up in the clone bay, with an email note when you wake up saying: ((THE END)) sucker ------------- Get over it |

well i od understand it could be at least 2-3 years before anything moves in that direction - but Eve will be round for at least another 10 i reckon so i guess ican wait and play that long lol :)
Keep the focus then on existing improvements as well. But maybe give us the odd storyline or ultra rare items via the odd event etc - keep those of us that are jove obsessed satisfied.
