I'm sorry if this topic has already been posted, I would use search to check if I could 
Seriously, I can't believe that after 2 years the official forum doens't have search function... Any news on ETA?

cause these forums are link'd to the database.. the same database that's in use during game..
adding a search feature would help that computer go to ****..
yet another argument for moving non-essential junk to another standalone system :/

Thats what google is for - it searches the entire database and a simple google search finds the information youe after - perhaps the simple solution wuold be a google search bar that launches a pop up window with the results - saves lazy people opening up a 2nd page to do the google search lol.
Or a small note at the forum front page that says - search feature missing - you can use google to find forum posts and inforamtion you are after.

Database or not, these forums are way behind the current standards that are out there (like VBulletin)

to much effort to change over - forums are checked daily by google anywya - as long as you use specific google searches you can usually find info - if not try eve-I online as it has a search function

Change what over, what are you talking about? It's not like it's some huge programing effort, which would stop development of the game for a year. Every forum on internet has a search function... And forums being on the same server as the game is not a very good idea anyway.
As for google: google search might help a bit if you are searching for something but it's far from being a replacement for a normal forum search... If you don't believe: I posted a WTB post on this forum looking for a tag a few days back. I did a search for it on google and it didn't show.
If there are some tricks to google search I would be happy to know them. For example:
- how can you search only one channel
- how can you search only posts X days old
- how can you... well, you get the basic idea

A search function would help reduce all the insane # of duplicate threads in this & other forums, or at least leave the little heptards with no excuse for making duplicate threads besides their own laziness.
I'm all for the search function :) :P Needed badly. This responsible poster is tired of reading back 10 pages or so to make sure I don't duplicate. I'd rather post on a thread than make a new one.

Search function would be very handy indeed. It just feels weird having to use google to search for something.

I'm very surprised to read that the forum database is the same as the game database. I allways assumed they would have this huge rack with multiple servers running the game database and a seperate one for the site/forum.. guess i was wrong ?
