why do i get attacked by sentry guns if i'm only defending myself (didn't attack first)
i was going to dock at a station when certainly a guy called smurf opend fire on me, i attacked back and we booth got destroyed by sentry guns.
after that we booth docked at the station in pods, he was able to undock first in a new ship, grabbed all my rare equipment and logged

Two potential reasons spring to mind:
1. You were using weapons that cause splash damage (e.g. missiles) and caught the station/a ship owned by the station owners by accident, causing the guns to turn on you.
2. You have a low sec standing towards whoever owns the station (don't know if this would cause them to autofire though).
Or maybe they don't like squid :P

allright my petition was closed with the explaination, that it is generally dangerous to fight in 1.0 systems because of splash damage.
well i didn't know that hybrid and projectile guns actually do splash damage but anyway...

Try to do another petition and tell them what weapons you used and that they don't do splash dmg.

did he really open fire on you or did he just lock you (threat indicator turning orange).
Because only locking you wouldn't be an offensive act. So it might be that actually you opened up first.

Why did you even bother to return fire if you were both within range of the sentry guns? It should have been obvious he would die, so why not just sit back and enjoy the fireworks?
Did you open fire on his pod? That would explain the guns opening up on you.
