For the past couple of weeks I've noticed a worrying tendency amoung my drones to pair off and lag behind the others. While I'd like to believe that its true love I think its more likely to be a bug. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, it happened to me too. It's like they are trying to prowl in space. ---- A true player does feel no need to remind himself or fellow players that it is just a game. |

i'm having the same issues. apparently they are bickering about the the price of drone parts in nonni..
they start bumping into each other and then go into the endless cycle of "oh pardon me for bumping you, -you go first" "-oh no, you go first..no you, oh please please, you first...I insist."
i think it may be linked with some sort of change with the mass field (gravity well?) around objects as of late...
I'm getting stuck on DS gates an jet cans ALOT.. -cant say i ever got stuck on a jet can before till now...and i'm talking doing the jitterbug and thorazine shuffle stuck.. sitting there vasilating back and fourth like i just dropped an extra 0.50ó into a vibrating bed expecting to get more...
this mostly happens with larger ships tho.. (l3 cruisers, indies etc..)
maybe its related?

Just more proof that drones are nothing but crazy Gallentean snail-eater pansies.

hehe..it's survival of the fittest. Ever noticed those are the ones you usually leave behind to fend for themselves in the wild expanse of space, or are killed off by npcs.
It's also how we get those nice light drones :)

I've had this happen as well, though usually only with one drone instead of two (getting down with Mr. Hand maybe?). I understand it's something to do with the fact that when you order them to return and orbit, but are yourself moving in a direction (in my case, usually away from where they were fighting my last target), then some of them may, through a bug, approach on the orbit vector instead of going straight for you. Hence the abysmally slow speed.
Particularly annoying if you're in a big slow ship (as most non-gallente drone carriers will be). Let's hope they fix this one soon. |

I use the Dominix and Ishtar with 15 heavy drones.
When doing agent missions and combat, they do often get stuck in pairs like you have described, the only way to fix it is to manually click on one and send him somewhere else (eg, if their all returning to ship, right click on one of the stuck ones and send him to fight a object in space, that instantly unsticks them.

I've had drones attacking one structure, only for five of them to change their minds and go attack something else.
When told to attack target one, they get half way and change their minds again.

drones do behave very oddly.
-they pair up and try to make little dronelings instead of doing their job
-after they kill a target they lag for about 1 second, then just split off and randomly aquire targets. some will attack one ship. 2 more attack a different one. 5 of them might get it into their head to go attack the menacing looking wall 40km away. then when you give them an order to attack a new target only the drones that had randomly selected that target proceed at full speed. the rest straggle in at their orbit speed.
-most annoyingly, you can only scoop one at a time if ALL drones are not in scoop range. makes you want to just blast the two making out 20k away while they cruise back at 5m/s
suggested fixes 1. make drone collision models NOT recognize other drones, so they can just pass through each other. this would fix drone humping. drones are so small you would never notice anyway.
2. make all drones attack the same target after the first dies and before you give a new command. implement a mildly customizable drone ai that you can program with a few set parameters such as target closest, target weakest, target strongest etc so you have a tiny bit of control over the ai. also they need to ferret out the bug that prevents them from going full speed after a new target is given that isnt the same as the target chosen by the ai.
3. completely get rid of scoop to drone bay and replace with "return and dock"

You are lucky.. I think the mother of my drones smoked/ drunk and lived near a nuclear waste station
We also need a self destruct button.. No how much fun would that be

I love this game, I play it as often as i can as I just love the intresting repetition of mining scordite so that I can build my basic CPU units which i make allmost 100k a week on !
I do not however love reading such filth in a public forum ! I will be consulting my mum

^^ Exactly as he said.
I fly a Dominix and my main weapons are drones. I don't like seeing 2 of them making out when they should be working. _________________ CEO, 3240 Inc. We Solve Problems |

Last night my drones completely failed to engage a serpentis cruiser that was about 1000m from me, forcing me to warp out to a safespot.
Not cool.

Is this happening only very recently or has it been around for a couple of week/months?
Thing comes in mind: maybe it has something to do with the fix they made for people bouncing from gates/eachother after a gangwarp.

I installed a secret camera in my ships drone bay, and I can tell you its SHOCKING the kind of things these little critters get up to when the lights go out.
Anywho, if you have found a bug with drones please submit it in the correct place, here.
