I have a Covetor mining barge. When I start to mine, I select four asteroids (one as a back up for quick recovery when a rock "pops"). Due to the problem of a laser still operating (control icon glowing) after the ore it was locked on is gone, I would like to just click on it to turn it off and restart it on another asteroid. Problem is, which laser was working on the rock that popped? I try to guess at it, but with a one in three chance, the odds are against me getting it right. If I turn off the wrong one I have to restart two of them. If I made two mistakes, I have to restart from scratch.
A simple fix to this would be to number the lasers at the bottom of the screen and the corresponding number would be up top along side of the ore it is mining. That way I can easily see which laser is done and turn it off. I am sure had this been a real mining ship in space, it would have had this feature. The notification can be numbered, lettered or even color coded.
A side note and I figure this is probably already known of, is that the three laser beams are coming out from their associated lasers. Two beams will come from one laser going in two directions. It would be more realistic if the beams can out of each laser as designed.

the whole laser remaining on thing is damned annoying. I figured out why it happens too me. I use five ML2s and thus there is a tiny fraction of time between activation of each. Depending on which laser killed the roid the previous ones will still think there is one there for a minute. Its a bugger when its the last laser cos they eat up my cap.

Yea, miner II's are easier because of the one minute cycle. The barges have a three minute cycle and the ongoing finished laser will be on for quite a while. Each laser draws so much power that you have to stagger turning them on. With my present energy skills it taks me 2-3 minutes to get all three of them operating. When I guess wrong on the laser my time to keep all of them on gets extended.
