Hi. I have a friend whom, a while ago, I invited through the buddy program (His trial has long since expired). He is now considering upgrading, and I was as to whether or not upgrading through time codes, such as from http://store.origin.com/store/ea/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.258828300, would be eligible for rewards. Looking at the terms and conditions for the Buddy Program, I noticed that some forms of upgrading were ineligible, though the exact distinction as to what is and what isn't eligible wasn't very clear for me.
Thanks, Pythoner6 |

Since Origin have a broken web site which automatically redirects me to their Australian version, I can't see what it is that you're linking to. I would suggest that if they are selling something that is not a GTC/ETC (e.g.: http://www.shatteredcrystal.com/code.php/eve_online), then what they're selling is likely to be a CD Key and thus ineligible.
Since I am just a player rather than a CCP staff member, I can't tell you for certain. I would suggest submitting a petition, perhaps under Billing & Accounts / Payment Methods. Day 0 advice for new players: Day 0 Advice for New Players |

To the best of my knowledge, Origin sells exactly 2 EVE related products regardless of region. One is a 30 day code, which is a "CD Key" and as such is not eligible for the buddy programme rewards. The other is a 60 day "ETC" and is eligible for rewards. ... |

Hmm... Sorry about that, a comma was included as part of the link which broke it. The link should now work.
Thanks for the information. It would be nice if there were a bit more information on exactly what is being sold (CD key/ETC ...) |

I know, Origin's product description is lacking some rather important details. I petitioned this same issue not too long ago to get a definitive response on whether the 30 days code is a "CD Key" or an "ETC"; that is how I know.
I find that most of the other ETC resellers are much better at stating what it is exactly they are selling, though. ... |

People use Origin? EVE is on Origin? What else have I missed? "No one drove in New York, there was too much traffic." |

Quote:To be eligible for rewards, the new Buddy account needs to be activated and the subscription fee paid by using Credit/Debit cards, PayPal, WebMoney Transfer, paysafecard, ETC, PLEX, Nexon, Ukash, iDeal, Yandex, Amazon Game Connect and any additional payment methods accepted by CCP from time to time.
To be eligible for the rewards, the Buddy account subscription fee may not be paid using any of the following methods: Direct Debit or CD Keys, including CD Keys purchased or received from non-CCP sources and online stores such as, but not limited to: Steam Store, Direct2Drive, Gamers Gate, Impulse Driven.
I think if you're really worried about it, have him use one of the methods they explicitly state they accept.
