ive been playing around with Pi in a 0.7 system getting used to how it works cycle times ect i set up 3 planets and made some cash but not enough.
now i nearly have all my pi skills trained to lvl 4 or 5 i think it time to move into low sec
is there much difference in profit/recources in a 0.5 system compared to a 0.3 or should i just go null?
although null prob isnt good idea for me? |

PI isn't a "get rich quick scheme." If you made money, that's a good first step.
Do some research on factory worlds, theytend to work better in hi-sec than raw resource harvesting in my experience. Import tax on P1 material is actually quite cheap.
If you want to go to low sec or null sec, have at it.. As long as you can afford the ship loss, it's quite a blast. Do some research on dangerous hauling and make sure to pick a system with minimal traffic and good planets. |

In my experience low sec PI is more stable. The hot spots don't always give out as much materials but they don't deplete as fast either. So you won't have to move around your buildings chasing hot spots every week but daily you may be surprised that some of your high sec planets give you more goods. Over time that high sec planet will deplete though and the low sec won't.
I'm pretty sure out of all of my low sec planets I have never had to move a launchpad to the other side of the planet. At worst I may move extractors a bit. My high sec planets I am having to tear down and rearrange constantly.
Still the risk of low if you pick a bad system can be a pain. The good news is that you will probably get ganked on your way in before you are actually carrying millions worth of goods. I ended up moving one of my alts back to high sec just because I got tired of the risk. Only my main does PI in low sec. now and it is a very low activity system. |

So what's your ship recommedation?
Is Primae useful in such low-sec operations? Transport ships are made for industry chars, so i don't have opportunity to use such skilled ships.

Profitable yes, but it requires a lot more effort and logistical overheads. Without an alliance, null's only possible in NPC/unclaimed space ... or even WH.
The biggest problem you will be facing is moving your products to market, unless you somehow managed to find a regular local buyer. Ideally, you'd need a jump freighter to cart things, which for lowsec you can probably hire Black Frog Freight ... not sure if they do nullsec though.

If you want to go into low you could just train for a blockade runner so you can warp cloaked |

I recommend the Blockade runner, the cov ops transport. it works wonders for PI.
I myself do my PI in 'hostile' NPC nullsec, and dodge gatecamps and bubbles regularly with it.

The primae is decorative only. If you don't want to train too heavily at first I would say get a bestower and fit it with a basic cloaking device. This will at least give you time to gather your wits if you warp in to a camped gate.
If the gate is camped by one or two ships and you are heavily shielded you may get away. If there is a proper gate camp all industrials will pretty much insta pop.
The blockade runner is definitely a worthwhile investment though it takes a while to train and may not be needed if you are just going in 1 system deep into low and it is not a busy system. Cheap enough to replace on the rare occasion you get caught and as I mentioned earlier you are most likely to get caught on your way in when your cargo is empty. |

Lowsec PI isn't that risky.
Unlike HiSec, in lowsec it's actually worth your time to extract stuff. If you can find a system with 1 or 2 good planets (this is easy) then you can arrange your PI setup around that. You will need to do some research for this.
Then for getting your goods on the market, there's 2 ways to go about it.
Way 1 - the convenient way: Do your PI with an alt that has Command Center Upgrades 4, Interplanetary Consolidation 4, Remote Sensing 3 and I also recommend training the Planeteology skills a bit. Add the ability to fly an Iteron III and you probably want to get Hull Upgrades lvl 2 for tech II Inertial Stabilizers. This should takes 10-14 days depending on your taste and whether or you not you want to spend the isk for +3 implants. If you want to be supersafe you can train cloaking to lvl 1 as well, but this adds 4-5 days to the training.
Now for starters make sure your alt is doing his PI in a system that has a station. Preferably multiple. Make an insta-undock and from then on never leave the system. Park your alt on a safespot somewhere and do your extractor and exporting work from there. Fly stuff between planets as needed and drop your end product in the station. When you have about 100k m3 worth of stuff, have Black Frog haul it out for you.
Way 2 - the do it yourself way You will need a cloaked hauler. Period. They're untouchable in lowsec, unless you happen to warp to the customs office at 0 and there's someone with guns and a scrambler already there. Since no pirate in his right mind will EVER camp a customs office you're perfectly safe. It's worth noticing that it's actually better to use a system with no stations in this case as they tend to be a lot less crowded. Yes, it can be done with a normal hauler and a scout and such, but you will get killed eventually and lose a bunch of isk.
