just found the old 'Spice Opera - Exxos' CD that came with the original Dune game - it's awesome atmospheric stuff, got me flipping through some MP3s :-)
Eve has some nifty tracks, what others stick in your memory?

Medal Of Honor: Frontline(PS2) Game music, none of that pulsing techno crap, composed by a orchastra and a vocal group.
I like it. ------------------ What can I lose? My dignity...every single inch of it.

For mp3/cd quality sountracks it would be Warcraft II. No other game I've played had such a great soundtrack. You could stick the warcraft cd in a cd player and play it without a computer. The tracks were actual cd tracks instead of music files.
For Midi era soundtracks, I'd say the most memorable would be The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. The music changed depending on the weather and the day/night cycle. It had a very atmospheric and sometimes eerie quality. If the game had mp3/cd quality music it would beat out Warcraft II for my top spot.

Edited by: Ralus on 04/06/2005 01:01:43 Total Anihilation had great music, was alway great to start attacking a base and have the music fire into a rousing orchestral piece

From more recent games I really like Rome: Total War. The fact that you get different styles of music for various factions that you play really adds to the atmosphere. The more up-beat music you get during battles is real good too.

Undoubtably it's Total Annihilation. Followed by the original Command & Conquer's soundtrack.

Like anyone can forget the old Mega Man games on the NES. A lot of Capcom-released SNES games had their own special kick as well.
For more recent games... Halo springs to mind. Total Annihlation was great too. Deus Ex was immersive. Crimson Skies too.
Can't forget Final Fantasy 7 either. ----------- Fighting for the ideals of freespace, posthuman ethics, and rock & roll. |

Edited by: Petite Pierre on 04/06/2005 07:02:58 I'd have to say the Total War series.
The guy that did the music for it is called Jeff van Dyck, and here's an interview with him. --------------------

I have to agree to the MDK reply, loved the music in both of them. The first Summoner had a few interesting tracks, the Lenele and Kusani tracks come to mind. Also enjoyed the G-Police and Colony Wars tracks, both games made by the same company around the same time.
