I've been a long time away from the game and just came back. They way it used to be, I always did level 3 missions in a thorax with blasters. The Mordus and Princess missions gave me a little trouble I remember, and I lost a few ships, but it was fun and a challenge. Watching my armor yo-yo as I juggled 2 armor reps, hitting my cap booster for one more MWD or 100mn afterburner charge to get in range.. it was great.
But now I'm just staring at my ship in the hangar.. wondering WTF.
Not only are MWD's useless for a lot of missions now, but I can't put a 100mn afterburner on.
Soooo.. I feel so stuck. I mean sure I could go to another ship but Thorax and blasters was.. it was me.
My only option if I want to use blasters is what.. put on a 10mn afterburner and go 381 m/s? That just won't do. Fit overdrives in low and have no tank? That won't do either..
Looking through the missions forums I don't even see people talking about thorax setups. It just feels like the Thorax really got the shaft and I'm very confused as to why..
So does anyone have some advice on a modern Thorax setup for running missions? Even if it means not using blasters  . I guess I'd better just get with the times. |

Using a T2 10MN AB will be viable, although you may have some problems gaining on distance keeping rats. Then again, what are drones for?

I'm guessing the bit about not using an MWD was in referral to deadspace. If so, I'm not sure how you'd want to set it up.
Also, most people use BS/HAC/AF for missions these days. Cruiser's have kinda become obsolete...

Yea thats what I'm coming to accept I guess. I could do it with rails but its not fun, so I've resorted to playing hl2 deathmatch while AF skills train heh.
I did however try a passive shield tank on the thorax, (4kish shield ~350 recharge)letting my drones do the work. The missions got done but I wasn't entertained. So.. sights are set on the enyo now!

Thorax is nice. I love that ship but i think is little too underpowered on L3 missions. Better get a Brutix or much better Deimos/Mega

well my current thorax is:
5xlight neutron blaster II
10mn mwd, web+scrambler
1 named med armor rep, kinetic, explosive hardeners, 1600mm plate, magnetic stabilizer II
it can tank pretty well but eventually the cap just runs out, the blasters can do a nice bit of damage though

If you can fly a Thorax - get a Brutix - wont take a lot of training time. It is much like a rax. Since last major gameupgrade level 2 missions is like old level 3 missions. And yes the Brutix is ugly!
