I read in chat from a guy quitting E&B about this new game called Eve and it was going to be great. Whatever. So I checked it out, applied for the beta, and have been playing (on and off) ever since.

Barakkus 733	Posted - 2011.10.07 20:44:00 - [4] - Quote I read an article about Istvaan's historic gank, then another story about some guy doing some null sec mining and getting super involved with some other guy over it and all this other mess and eventually lost everything when ransomed and rage quit...then I was like this game sounds kewl and picked it up...played for about a year, got wrapped up in other **** in another game, quit/unsubbed...burnt out in EQ2 and came back...been playing regularly ever since.

I love spaceships like famous people love prostitutes. Never found one that looked like it was worth buying worth buying. Star Wars has always been a big part of my life. Tryed a couple SW PC games. They blew ass, even the one that everyone else loved. Most PC games seemed to blow ass. Anyways I was waiting for that Force Unleashed game to come out and trolling the internet when I found an article about some guy assassinating his CEO and stealing $1,700 or $17,000 worth of in game items. My first thought was some asshat paid $1,700 for some fake **** in a game. So I had to learn more. So anyways the stuff I read made ity sound like you flew a spaceship, killed people, docked in your station and got promoted to excutive office(where th F is my office). Than I noticed a free 14 day trial which was about how long I had till Force Unleashed came out. So anyways I got hooked, only played Force Unleashed for a couple days. At the time I owned every console known to man. The consoles I didn't sell are covered in dust! -á I want to fly a badass Mon Calamari stlye-ácruiser painted to match my Tron clothes.

Kinda like me, the eve beta was so broken when it was over I thought the game was going to fail and ended up playing Planetside instead, and didn't end up getting into eve again until 2004. Whoops xD

Tried it and hated it for the usual reasons most have when moving from an FPS style game to an MMO. Gave it another shot a year later and stuck with it long enough to start enjoying it's depth and virtues. Decided it was ok and stuck around. Mr Epeen If you can read this, you haven't blocked me yet.

Think I had been intending to play Earth and Beyond but came across Eve instead. Even thought they didn't have access to the game yet I remember players forming themselves into Corps. I remember Endless Corporation where all the members had cool looking forum signatures and had already divided up the job roles without really knowing how it'd fit into the game, there was Finance Managers and HR Managers. If I remember rightly they disbanded from internal fighting before the game was even released. I remember looking at the concept art for the Executioner and deciding that once I got into the game I'd be a bounty hunter (as did most people) and that was the ship I was going to fly to hunt down pirates. I remember mining for the first time with a single civilian mining laser during beta and thinking the game was too boring to succeed. I remember coming across the concept of skill training (there was no skill queue in those days) and thought the game design was crazy to think people would pay a subscription that involves just waiting until their character can do something. I remember warping for the first time and being shocked at the idea someone thought sitting waiting for the best part of a minute while the ship travelled was good game play. I remember manually travelling from Chaven to Amarr for the first time (took me a few days to realize there was an autopilot ) and it felt like I'd wandered far from home and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get back to Chaven. I remember looking at the galactic map for the first time and thinking that I should give up trying to get back to Chaven. I remember some senior management guy at CCP, possibly Hilmar? claim in an interview that because of the unique way that Eve was programmed the game was immune to lag. I remember seeing the great golden hull of an Apocalypse docking at a station for the first time. Then I remember finding the cargo container of some other noob who gotten blown up and I looted his civilian mining laser. And then I thought....."could I....replace..... my Civilian Gatling laser with this other mining laser....and....mine....twice as much...?" I remember trying mining again with my dual mining lasers, shooting back and forth between the belt and station with a full cargo, feeling like I'd come across some great discovery. Suddenly I began to realize some of the potential and freedom of the game. Finally I remember coming across another noob that was mining and ejecting the ore into a can. I remember the adrenaline rush as I began I steal the ore, rushing back to the station giggling like a madman.

My old Freelancer clan had already crumbled with most of the players going to WoW which did not appeal to me. Stumbled on the website, read the story and articles, saw the screenshots and created an account but still had no clue of what I had gotten myself into.

I pretty much did the same thing, heard E&B was shutting down and signed up for Eve the next day.

Around 2003 I recall reading about it in PC Games magazine and they had this trailer on the cover CD. The voiceover, the graphics, the technical options all got me interested. "I promise...". I was staying in student digs at the time, but didn't have an Internet connection. I did eventually give Eve a go when I got Broadband and have been playing ever since.

So it read my cookies when I would log in and spammed the ** out of Eve for me. Ironically, that was when MMO's were kinda newish, and even tho I had a great job making CPU's at Intel, I wouldn't pay. Then when they laid off 10's of thousands of people and I wound up with a **** paying job, I started playing EvE. I needed a ME reward. See what happens when fat neckbeards try to ride little ponies? The ponies die.
