Is this thing any good?
Shows tech lvl 2 and uses 1 cpu under fittings (low slot)
Does + 20 percent shield recharge while taking away - 35 percent cap recharge rate...
This seemed a bit high for a trade off to me...

Unless you don't plan to mount a shield booster and use only projectiles I would stay away from it like the devil from the holy water.
Cap recharge maulus = BAD

Actually 4 of them, with 8 shield recharger 1s on a scorpion battleship with battleship 4, shield op 4, and shield management 4, regenerates 44 shield per second, as its peak regeneration... but thats a major waste of slots :)

It's a good module if want a defensive setup and are more interested in staying allive than dealing out damage. I've been looking for such a module for my Mammoth...
An other thing about shields, they don't recharge a constant amount per second, the futher from full charge your shields are the faster they recharge. I think it's the same with your capacitor.

I found one of these the other day. I most say its the worst, most utterly useless item I ever saw so far.

Worst, utterly useless item award goes to the Nefarious 1 (or whatever that Cap leech mod is). It steals 10 Cap every 45 secs...
But maybe a projectile or pure missile user would find that mod useful since they don't need much Cap recharge. But for myself it's utterly useless also. ------------------------------------- Interm-CEO for EVE Marshals http://www.EVEMarshals.com |

This thing is a beauty for Caldaris if you ask me. Using launchers don't consume capacitor so loosing cap recharge isn't a big deal. You fit shield extenders on med slots and shield power relays on low slots in order to get a nice passive shield tanker.
Still, there's something strange with this module. All named SPR seem to be identical. The only benefit you gain by having one is that it needs 1tf less than normal mod (ie 0).

Edited by: DubanFP on 19/06/2006 23:44:46 the thing is if you have a faster shield recharge rate to start with it increases it much more then the capacitor would have. hook up with a full set of low slots and it makes for an awfully powerful shield tank. But in the end i find Power Diagnostic System to be Much better so i don't use them. I mean 4% increase in both capacitor and shield max "multiple go a long way", as well as 7.5% increase in recharge.
What people fail to realize is that the recharge rate is based on seconds which doesn't increase with increase in max hp. Increase the shield/cap 25% and the recharge rate will increase 25% because the total time to reach taht stays the same. In the end the diagnostic system increases both your capacitor and shield recharge rate 11%, with the bonus to max shield/cap, it's just better.

Edited by: Neckbone on 20/06/2006 22:48:02 I've done every L2 mission (including HC 5/5) in a Rifter with passive shields, thanks to that module. Having a peak regen of 15.52 per second is handy. My only cap drain is an afterburner & webber, which I can leave on indefinitely.
And 44 regen/sec peak on a Scorpion? **** that's horrible. My Cyclone regens 80 per second, with T1 modules; it will peak at 102/sec once I get T2 modules put on there. (T2 Shield Power Relays don't exist, I'm not referring to them.)
EDIT - Just noticed the necromancy thing. Oops.

I guess this thread was started before my passive tank campaign and research really started to take off. It took me ages to convince anyone that shields get more powerful the lower they get. Passive shield tanking guide, click here. |
