It is now two days after Hilmar posted his "Mea Culpa" blog to the community of EVE and it has taken me that long to see it because quite frankly my brother and I don't even log on much any more (even though my and my brother's accounts are still prepaid through the next six months or so).
We started playing EVE in 2005 and 2006 and since that time we have had some great adventures, so much so that I soon started paying for our accounts by the year in advance). We experienced the good gaming EVE had to offer including the comraderie of new friends made from all over the globe... but over time we learned the flaws and sadly of late alot of the bad which resulted in our cancelling our subs, but my intention here is not to discuss what is wrong with EVE.
What I want to say is that EVE AND CCP IS NOT DEAD! I know this from the tone and content of Hilmar's post. While it takes a good corporate leader who has a vision to successfully develop any product over time, it takes a GREAT corporate leader to admit his plan has problems and needs to change after he has invested significant time and effort down the wrong road. The ability to change direction is the essence of marketing savy and serving one's customers and IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FAILING BUSINESSES AND THOSE THAT SURVIVE AND GROW. Clearly CCP is one of the latter as it is being led by intelligence and not ego.
I will not go into detail here with the issues I have with meta-gaming imbalance, RMT, botting, economic resource modeling, etc, etc, etc.. All these are well known by the veteran community and have been discussed elsewhere ad nauseum... What I will say is that I sense a real concern on Hilmar's part regarding the direction of EVE, a real passion for the game, an ear for his customers and the willingess to hear negative input. This bodes well for the future and makes solving the above issues possible in time.
So I'll end this wall of text by saying that this post is being written by my Alt and not my Bitter Vet Main because my main was banned by CCP from forum posting because the monitors thought I was being "too negative"... (It's always easier to shoot the messenger.) My brother and I will likely move on to other games when our subs finally expire, but with people like Hilmar at the helm of EVE, we will surely be replaced with new subscribers who will stay as long as we did because of the improved game experience.
(So you see Bitter Vets can change too. Some might even stay. Our subs have six months or so to run anyway, so we will see if Hilmar is as good as his word. I think he is.)
P.S. No I don't work for CCP, I'm not a fanbois ( they banned my posts), and I'm not Hilmar's mother. |

He was just manipulating you. What happened was that CCP couldn't do it, Incarna, WiS. So they're essentially spinning in their chairs doing minor tweaks for the winter instead and saying it's what you wanted. |

I think perhaps this person considers actually reading and analyzing what was said to be too much effort. So it goes. |

Ive never seen that in a ban email O.o If that were bannable, half the forums would be gone ************
Yes, well you know gambling in a legitimate casino is fun, but gambling in a casino where the cards are marked and the dealers are crooked is just wasting time and money.
and as for "too negative"... just try posting comments regarding the negative impact of certain overexposed CMS members in anything but glowing terms and see how fast you get banned. The game is rigged, the tables are tilted, but the Casino CEO never intended it to be this way and is truly trying to change things to improve client satisfaction. I think that is the message. |
