As far as I have found there are no skills or skills mislabeled that reduce the CPU or Capacitor use of armor repair, plating extenders and resistance plating. This goes the same for shields but they have a shield upgrades skill that is a % is power reduction. Or even any armor equipment that will give a % increase to the armor repair power like a booster amp for shields.
Shield management is 5% to shield capacity for lvl = Hull upgrades are a 5% armor hit points for lvl (equal skills)
Shield upgrades is 5% reduction in shield upgrade power needs per lvl (No armor skill to match this)
Shield operation is 5% Bonus to shield recharge rat per lvl Repair system is 5% reduction in repair systems duration for armor and hull per lvl (equal skill)
With all the offensive skills in the game we need to see more defense skills and skills to make our ships more efficient added to the game.

just as a note, Shield Op is nigh useless, it effects base shield recharge. After level III, MAYBE IV its not worth it..
Repair systems duration is nice.. I would wish there was a comparable one for shields, but shields allready boost pretty fast.. maybe + per boost ? :-P

Actually Shield Op 5 does now have a use.
It is a requirement for the XLarge Shield Booster 2.
(Not much use for Amarr I'd admit -but nice to have for the soon to be nerfed to oblivion Caldari BS)

armour repairers are risiculously more efficient that shield boosters anyway, surely you can;t expect the devs to give them any more loving..as for platings, i'm pretty sure the situation is the same with shield hardeners (too lazy to check) in that there's no way to reduce cap needs (ever tried to run 3 multispectrals lol - 150 cap every 3 secs)
tbh you'll be very very very lucky if you get this skill you want

Shield management is rank 3, hull upgrades are rank 2 so takes 2/3 the time to train thus are hardly equal
Quote: Shield upgrades is 5% reduction in shield upgrade power needs per lvl (No armor skill to match this)
This only applys to shield extenders as far as im aware, which are not realy worth wasting a midslot on
Quote: Shield operation is 5% Bonus to shield recharge rate per lvl Repair system is 5% reduction in repair systems duration for armor and hull per lvl (equal skill)
Shield op only effects the base recharge rate which cant keep up with damage hence they are creating a -2% to cap need to shield boost skill (see stickyed forum here).

Agreed which is why they are adding them to make shield tanking more inline with armour tanking. You can increase the efficiency of armour reps through skills where as to do the same on a raven you currently need uber faction mods.

Edited by: Santiac on 10/06/2005 00:17:14 shield boosters need alot of cpu compared to armor repairers, and most often i find myself with extra PG rather then extra cpu
and not only that, armor repairers repair more armor/cap then shields repair shield/cap only upside to shields imo is the extra layer of safety aswell as the higher shield/sec to balance it out a bit, armor tankers got the repair systems skill, and shield tankers have their shield upgrades - only sounds fair imo i must say :)

Useless how? I agree that passive shield recharge doesn't make a big difference, however it's still helpful for a lot of fights, especially ones where you are being pecked at, and with less recharge it would be digging into your armor (and also shield and cap recharge is optimal around 30%, so if you can keep above that all the better.) As an armor tanker I haven't spent that much time on them, but I am still glad I have L4 operation and L3 management.
